July Papertrey Ink Blog Hop!!

Ooooooo! I get so excited about the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop!

There is so much to be inspired by when we bee-bop around to everyone's site and see what they are doing with this month's theme!

The July theme, is to incorporate TEXT into your creation.
So, my thought was to tear a flower from an old book and then add a sentiment. Quick and easy.

I found a bunch of old books downstairs and prepared to rip and create. I then discovered they were all Danielle Steele novels, which my Mother-in-law loves so I really couldn't rip them up.

I kept digging and found some old text books which turned out to be all about the History of Canada and I really didn't feel right tearing up Canada's history so I kept on searching.......ripping up books is not easy! I love reading and I just feel bad.......but then.....

I found an old Entertainment magazine which definitely should have been pitched ages ago.....but by that time my whole idea had changed!

I ended up using the Boss-Kut birdie die and cut it out of one of the pages which I think turned out fabulous!!

The sketch is from Cindy's sketch from the Dare to Get Dirty challenges going on right now on Splitcoaststampers and it also follows Becca Feeken's Punch it out theme!

Thanks for listening to my mumbling and for looking!!

  2. Bonnie this is fantastic - I laughed at how you couldn't tear up a Canadian history book :-) I couldn't do that to a book either - but your project is just adorable.

  40. Oh, how cute!! I agree that cutting up books is a bit traumatic -- the first cut is the hardest... (sung to the tune that goes with "The first cut is the deepest..." -- at least I think those are the words, and if not, or if you don't know the song, you're completely puzzled right now!). Anyway, love your card. Perfect sentiment. And those gemmy swirls are divine! All around great card!

    It's a good life!

  43. I love your idea! I always say I am going to pick up some old books at a garage sale or something to use just for crafting...but do I? But I DO have a Danielle Steel book that I am NOT afraid to cut up! I haven't even read it...it was a gift...at least it will be used!

    This came out great!

  44. I'm right there with you about ripping up the books, lol, but a magazine page that could drive the theme of the card is way too clever!!
