Kraftin' Kimmie Day and news.....

Good morning, I don't know if it is going to rain or not today....it is kind of dreary out but I do see a clear sky over to the west.....so here's hoping!

The news first:

Waltzingmouse Stamps is starting their previews tomorrow and you will be floored!! We have all been stamping away to bring you the best projects around - so come on back tomorrow to see!

DRS Designs - has a new contest called "By Invitation Only" and here are the details right from the bosses!

"By Invitation Only"
Is a new stamping contest that's won before a
card is ever stamped!
But, as the name implies, you have to be invited to play.

How, you ask?? It's simple!

We all have stamping friends that impress us with every card they make.
It's your job to
nominate them!!
Email us the link to their blog, website or gallery
and we'll check them out and see if we agree with you!!

If we do, we'll invite them to choose 1 to 3 unmounted
stamps from the online collection.
To complete the contest, they will stamp a card using
the chosen designs, post it to their blog or gallery and send
it to DRS Designs.

Once our invitation is accepted, they will receive a cool
blinkie for their blog and
they'll also be qualified for our
Sunday Stamper blog post on the DRS Designs Blog,
where we'll feature one outstanding card every week!

So.....
spread the word....
search the blogs.....
and send your nominations to:
invite@drsdesigns.com

So there you go - what a contest! Go forth and nominate!!

And here are my make and takes from last weekends awesome Kraftin' Kimmie Day! If you ever get the chance - you need to go!! it was fabulous!

Aren't they fabulous??!! And with the help of Melanie and Andrea - I did them!  I love the colouring on Goldilocks hair so I had to show you a close up! I am such a loser when colouring hair, but after Melanie's fabulous lesson, I think I kind of did not so bad LOL!!

Witching You......

Good morning friends and happy Wednesday --also know as hump day - the middle of the week - getting closer to the weekend yay!

I have a couple of DRS Designs images from our new Hallowe'en stamps that you are going to L-O-V-E!

I used the Broomstick Stella Witch and the Spirit of Hallowe'en Greeting to make a case card! I just stamped Stella and then coloured her with my copic markers, making a small trail of C-1 behind her to give the illusion of wind.

The greeting was stamped in the bottom corner so as not to interfere with lovely Stella and as an added touch, the wonderful Zva Creative black flourish - I cut these flourishes up to my hearts content and then place the swirls where I want - makes for a money saving tip!

Have a boo-tiful day!!

Sketch Challenge and Faith...

Don't forget that DRS Designs is sponsoring the 365 Cards Blog this week! You could win a $10 gift certificate towards new stamps at DRS Designs by completing a creation with the following sketch! wahoo!!

And here is my take on the sketch! Now I know that we are not supposed to use patterned paper but my mind was a total blank this week when I made it and I do think it looks rather lovely!

I used the Faith Greeting, which I use quite regularly - I love this sentiment and it is one I totally believe.....so that makes it special to me!

Thanks for coming around today and don't forget to enter those challenges this week!! There is an encouragement challenge today, so I may enter it in that challenge as well!

Have a great day!

Super Sketchy Sunday....on Monday....

There was a lot going on yesterday so I decided to wait and post this today to give it the love it deserves!

It's DRS Designs Week on 365 Cards blog! First off, there is a sketch challenge that you will find fun and easy AND you may win a $10 gift certificate from DRS Designs! yay!

Here is my take on the sketch:

AND a big thanks to Kristina Werner because I was greatly (almost completely) inspired by her card here.

I had nothing left in the mojo tank when I went downstairs the other day and I KNEW that I had time to play work to do (ever feel that way?) I love being in my room but if I don't feel creative all I see is that big mess that I have left! hah! - and it's a big one---

*reminder to self - clean up someday*
Anyway....sometimes I have to CASE a card to get my motor runningSmiley from millan.net....so that is what I started to do, and then I remember the sketch so I added a sentiment panel and my butterfly and it all came together..... whew!

For this card I used a simple sentiment from DRS Designs called appropriately enough "sending you a smile"!

My paper is from Basic Grey Olivia, there are some Zva Creative Pearls in there and my new Martha Stewart Butterfly punch.....honestly, if I don't buy a new punch once a week I feel like I am lacking - geesh.....

AND for this card and the next I did use patterned paper as you can see.  DRS Designs would rather we used their background stamps (which are absolutely gorgeous and fun!) but I forgot - and made these up before I realized ....oops.....

Dashing through the Snow!

Good Morning! This week DRS Designs is hosting the Card Patterns Sketch #79!

My card is another Christmas design that I happen to love!

I used the Christmas Music Background to stamp my main image and then stamped it again on some Kraft cardstock.  I cut an ornament from the Kraft cardstock with my Sizzix Bigz die and layered  it onto the main image, matching up the music as best as I could!

I added a beautiful big bow and some Christmas stars to finish it off! Hope you lik-ey!

Jingle all the Way!

Good Sunday morning to you!  have another card to show you using the new DRS Designs Christmas releases!

I used the Jingle Bell Background stamped in VersaMagic - Red Magic - such a crisp clear image don't you think?

Next I stamped the Holly 3" Giga Oval in Brilliance Thyme and then the Jingle all the Way sentiment was stamped in the Red Magic in the center of the oval.

I stamped and coloured the Holly Background, cut out a few of the holly leaves and added them as embellishments.

I added some glittery paper for a border across the top and it was done! A pretty darn easy card even though I used four stamps!!

Have you got your Christmas cards started yet? Now's the time!

Jingle Bells!

Good Morning! It was my turn to blog on the DRS Designs Blog  yesterday and this is the card that I showed!

I am so excited to be able to preview our new stamps that will be released to you, our wonderful customers, on August 21st!!

AND, I hope you are participating in our Blog Hop Scavenger Hunt that began on August 17th and ends today,  so you can get some wonderful ideas and win some Christmas stamps - it's never too soon to start those cards!!

How about some Christmas Bells??!

For my card today I stamped the soon-to-be released Christmas Music Background in Versamark and then clear embossed it for my background.

I stamped and coloured the "Bells and Bows" image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and copics.

I then re-stamped the image onto Spellbinders gold craft foil with Black Staz-on ink, cut out the bells only and glued them onto the first image.

I cut it out with the Spellbinders Labels 4 die, popped it up onto the Christmas Music Background and then attached that to my white card base and voila - finished!

It took me awhile to get my brain around Christmas (in 97 degree weather) but it's never too early to start your Christmas cards!!

Scavenger Hunt/Blog Hop!

Good day and welcome to DRS Design Blog Hop/Scavenger Hunt!

If you are coming here from Alicia's blog you are on the right track! and you have received your first clue!!

If you are just popping in, you may want to make your way back to the beginning so that you don't miss any of the clue's that will help you win new stamps!!

After my post you will be able to move on to the next location to find more clue's!! I don't have any clue's today-but there are more on the hunt!

My card features the new stamp called Wintertime Buddies and I stamped Santa and the snowman with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured them with my Copic markers. I love Memento ink with copics - no running or smearing! yay!

Santa's cute buckle was coloured with my gold deco pen! My little snowflake embellishments are actually silver eyelet snowflakes that I coloured with my gold deco pen also! After attaching the eyelets I added a gold brad to each snowflake!

Okay You are now on your way to Jennifer's Blog to get your second clue!!

Simple Joy.....

Good Sunday to you!!I am so glad because today is the day we get to start showing our previews for DRS Designs Christmas stamps!!

Christmas you say??!! Oh that is what I thought too until I started making these cards - so sweet and cute stamps they are - I had a hard time putting them down!!

These stamps will be available for sale on August 21st! AND as well we are having a blog hop in which you could win lots of the stamps from this release! Check out those details here on the DRS Designs Blog!!

My card today is a simple CAS (clean and simple) card - made especially this way to showcase the beautiful "Joy" stamp!

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then coloured the word "Joy" and that sweet little mouse and the holly that is on top of the "o". I cut it out with the small Petite Oval Nestabilities and then framed the image with the small Petite Scalloped Oval Nestabilities.

The other holly that is to the left of the image, is from another new background stamp. I just stamped and coloured and cut out one of the holly's to add a little embellishment!

Then I added the secret ingredient - STICKLES!! to the berries! Love Stickles!

Don't forget about the Blog Hop/Scavenger Hunt on August 17th - just two more sleeps! lol!

Christmas in July sketch challenge!

Good day! Right now I am on my way to Chicago to the CHA Supershow (that's Craft and Hobby Association) yee haw!! so hopefully this is posting on time!

DRS Designs is hosting the last week of Tuesday Morning Sketches birthday month! This month you could use any sketch over the last year to follow to design your card AND since it has been so hot - you must use a Christmas theme!! What a cool off - yay! If you want to play.....follow this link - you could win some awesome stuff!!

I chose to go back to the first of their year and use the second sketch, TMS#2

and here is my card and as per usual I changed it up a bit..lol!

The snowman is Large Snowman Portrait, which I coloured up with copics.

I ran a piece of red cardstock through  my Candy Cane Cuttlebug folder and then swiped my white ink across the top to look like a striped scarf. I did the same with the card base so it would match.

I stamped the background snowflakes with the Interlocking Snow Background

Using my blue and yellow Marvy snowflake punches, I punched out one large snowflake and two small ones and attached them with glue dots and added buttons!

Wishing You.....

I made this card with the Embellish Ric Rac challenge colours in mind, but I soon realized that it would be eligible for the  Dare to Get Dirty challenges that are going on all week on Splitcoaststampers too!

Here are the colours of the Embellish challenge, with my card following using DRS Design stamps.

I used DRS Designs stamp Four Corner butterfly, but I only used one of the stamps for the grass. This stamp is actually one large stamp that I cut up to make four single stamps. BONUS!!

I received a new BIGZ Sizzix flower die in the mail, that I just love and you will probably be seeing it a lot more in the future!

The sentiment is "Wishing You" and one I use quite often for a general card and then I just do my own correspondence on the inside of my card - I seldom finish the inside .....eeks!! I know.....lol!

Stamps: DRS Designs
Paper: Hawaiian Shores, Orange Zest, Kraft and white Papertrey Ink
Ink: Dark Chocolate Papertrey Ink
Accessories: Sizzix flower die, PTi eyelet die and ric rac die, twine and button

Smile! and a sketch challenge!

Good Day!

Today I have a couple of little note cards I made using DRS Designs stamps....Since Wednesday night is golf night I thought these were rather appropriate! ;)

They are definitely honest cards and since I am always not where I should be on the golf course,  I added a Maya Road chipboard tree.

I also LOVE the sentiment that just seems to go with these golfer's perfectly! "Sending you a Smile" - I would never be that good at my direction LOL!

I am making these for Moxie Fabs Fun and Cute Challenge because I think they are definitely fun and really cute!!

I used the Male Golfer and Female Golfer for my card and also the sketch that DRS Designs is using for their sketch challenge this week!! That's right!!

DRS Designs has a sketch challenge on right now and you can win either a Beach or Golf design package of awesome stamps! Skip on over to the blog and find out all the information!

This Sketch challenge is so close to the Splitcoast sketch challenge today, that I am going to  put that in there too....slap my hands!! lol!

For all the information check out the Color Throwdown blog and all the things you can win!!

I used the Color Throwdown colours for my card - EXCEPT I noticed that I missed the pink entirely-- argggghhhhh! I could have coloured the nose pink for heaven's sakes.....okay pretend the nose is pink.....dang it...

Faith...

Good day and I hope you had a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend! We went out to the St. Clair River last night and watched the American fireworks from my brother and sister-in-law's dock!

You guys sure know how to put on a show - it was fabulous - we go every year and it only gets better and better! Thank you!

I have a DRS Designs card for you today and I love this sentiment - it is one of my favorites!

I stamped the Faith Greeting sentiment twice, once in Vivid Aqua and once in Memento Rich Cocoa. I cut out the words "Faith" and "is knowing"  and adhered them on top of the sentiment that was cut out with the Spellbinders Labels 4 - one of my favorite dies!

The base of the card is run through the Cuttlebug Swiss Dot folder and the Aqua cardstock trim was cut with the Stamping UP! scalloped punch!

If you are still enjoying your long weekend, I hope it is a hot and happy one!

Here is a little snooper-dooper of it!

A Little Note........

Good Monday Morning! What a gorgeous sunny day - just perfect to cut the grass, weed the garden or anything else I need my hubby to do while I stamp LOL!!

DRS Designs is the sponsor at Caardvarks this month and the theme is embossing!! Not too hard considering all the embossing folders I am collecting.....yikes!

I decided to get out my Cuttlebug Flourished Frame embossing folder this time and ran it through with a piece of Coerdinations cardstock.

This cardstock is so cool because after running it through the embossing folder, I was able to sand the frame and get a really nice white embossed feature that stands out so beautifully against the purple!

I added an extra square of Coerdinations cardstock in the middle of the frame, with the edges sanded, and then my sentiment A Little Note, from DRS Designs with a bit of bling to highlight the words!

The Medium Open Silhouette Butterfly was stamped, cut out and popped up onto the corner of the embossed frame!

Thanks for coming around and try to take some time to look at the Caardvarks challenge this month! YOU could win a package of stamps from DRS Designs!

And don't forget about our Stamp a Day Giveaway going on all month too!! Everyday we are giving away a stamp to one commentor - it could be you!!

18 Jun 2010

CASE-ing Debbie Olson.....

I am in love with Debbie Olson. There I said it.....

Her work is absolutely stunning - all of the time.....therefore I CASE - Copy and Steal Everything, Copy and Share Everything (I like this one...) or even Clean and Sober Experience - (I looked up CASE)

I saw these beauties by Debbie, on the The Classroom (Ellen Hutson's site with a bevy of informative and inspirational posts on how to use your products).

Using her background stamps, Debbie created gorgeousness - so I, in my infinite wisdom, have decided to attempt gorgeousness also - and I love the outcome!! yay!

I used DRS Designs backgrounders and basically made one of the cards that Debbie had made - because I love it!

I used three different backgrounders from DRS Designs, Interlocking Star Background, Vicki's Versatile Background, and Large Original Plaid.

The oval is the Ribbon Scallop Mega Oval, which fits the Marvy Scalloped oval punch (the pink one) so that is such a happy plus!!  I finished it off with the Small Script Happy Birthday stamp - and all in RED and WHITE - love it!

My daughter Holly and I are off to see "Sweet Charity" today starring Cynthia Dale at the Huron Country Playhouse - looking forward to that!

Just a little note.....

Well, these cards started out a completely different way! But in the end I am happy with them....so all is good!

I made a set of note cards using DRS Designs stamps Just a little note.... and one corner of the Four Flower Background, only I used it as a focal point - you can do so many things with stamps!

I used the same design on all four cards choosing to use Sweet Blush, Simply Chartreuse, Terracotta Tile and Aquamist inks.

The shapes were cut with Spellbinders Big Scalloped Circle Dies SM, Circle Dies LG, and the Labels 12 Dies.

I sewed around and Label 12 dies with chocolate thread - it's supposed to be messy sewing lol!

Thanks for coming around today!
