Nature and Accordians...?

Yes I know it sounds weird, but I'm going to say that it will all make perfect sense when I explain it!

The Cat's Pajamas have an inspiration challenge this week which is to be inspired by the following photo:

Well, I have nothing remotely associated with music, rock and roll or microphones when it comes to The Cat's Pajamas so I decided to make an ACCORDIAN BOOK!!! Doesn't that make perfect sense??!! Of course it does....erp..

I found the instructions for the accordian fold booklet on the resource page at Splitcoaststampers--a fabulous spot for so many instructions for projects!!

I'm kind of feeling proud of myself for thinking outside the box! yay!

Okay have a good day!  lol! Oh I just thought I would do up a card for the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge this week and this is the card I chose to make.

I received some wonderful new paper from Stampin' Up! this week called Paisley Petals and I love it!  I matched it up with the Very Vintage Labels 18 and  Roses in Bloom (using the "Mom" sentiment)

I decided to do some cutting of the flowers on this delicious patterned paper with my Fingertip Craft Knife, so I could slip the Spellbinders Labels 18 under the cuttings.

I added some wonderful Zva Creative Pearls cut up just the way I like it- because I am in LOVE with them - true story! 


A bit of sponging around the edges and my beautiful card is done! yay! My mom and step dad just returned from Florida after being gone forEVER it seems - well - just 3 months but that is toooooo long!!

Today's Featured Stamper (FS65) on Splitcoast Stampers is Nutsymuhl or Kim Muhl. Check out her gallery and her blog.

Why do they always pick GREAT stampers....it is so hard to pick a card- they were all so great!

I chose this card to case with a couple of changes.

The base is Papertrey Ink Spring Moss with some K & Company designer paper adhered to it.


I tied Spring Moss satin ribbon around the card base.

Oh my goodness, I LOVE Papertrey Ink's satin ribbon because it is so soft and pliable - you would absolutely love it too!

I grabbed a seldom used set of sentiments called Elegant Greetings from Stampin' UP!- and re-discovered {knocking myself in the head!} that this is the most elegant script imaginable! Just perfect!!

I stamped it on Very Vanilla and layered it on Papertrey Ink's Berry Sorbet cardstock and then again on Spring Moss cardstock.

I used some pop up foam glue dot to adhere it to the card to give it that depth that I oh-so-love!!

So quick and easy!! Thanks Kim!!

It is such a beautiful day here!! The sun is shining and the wind is NOT blowing and all we are doing is yardwork !!!- with a card or two snuck in...

Sunshine Butterfly!

This pretty little butterfly is from Sunshine Designs!

It was one of their cubes that also has three other butterflies. Marcie had it and I was able to stamp it when I was babysitting Jake!

We are so darn lucky we are able to do that!

Sunshine Designs offer their stamps singularly on cling mount along with their well known cubes!
They have idea sheets also so that you can figure out how to colour them if you like.

I didn't have a butterfly sheet so I had to "wing" it - get it?? WING it!! LOL!

I used Memory Box patterned paper called Aerial and the mango and jade cardstock is also Memory Box. Both are from Ellen Hutson's store.

edited: the orangy cardstock is canteloupe, not mango.....

I coloured the butterfly with copics and did some highlights on it with my Sakura colour glitter pens - this picture shows the pretty glitter!! You can click on it to get a better look!


The sentiment is Curvy Verses from Stamping UP! and the flowers are prima with a glittery brad in the middle!

Sympathy Cards.....

My mom asked for an order of Sympathy cards but it seems as soon as I get a few ahead, I am the one who needs them......and this week has been particularly tough......hence the lack of posts......



Hopefully back to some normal-cy around here now, for our family anyway.


I used the same stamps and paper for all three of these cards, making them a quick make!

I received my order from Ellen Hutson last week and I have to say that I am so pleased with her service! Very personal and super duper quick!!



Always fun to deal with, because you know that when you place your order you will get it before you have forgotten what you ordered KWIM??


All three cards used Basic Grey LilyKate 6 x 6 paper pack from Ellen's store. I have the 12 x 12 also but the detail in the smaller packs is fabulous!


I also used Lavender Memory Box cardstock which is so cool because it is white on the backside and quite heavy so you could use it for your card base!


The flower stamp is Happy Harmony from Stamping UP! and the sentiment is from Printworks.


My card base is Spring Moss cardstock from Papertrey Ink, as well as the Spring Moss satin ribbon. The lavender ribbon is from Offray.

Hopefully this week will be better for our neighbourhood. We are a very close community thankfully, and so with that, along with our Faith, I am positive that the mending can begin......

Amy R's Sketch......

Okay, don't shoot me, I promise this is the last Riley the moose card!

Well, there are actually two cards - but I love him so much that I can't resist......I WILL be using him for Father's day obviously. I think he is a fabulous image!! (can ya tell!!)

This card is for Amy R's Friday sketch which you can find here.

I used Dream Street Paper's Daydreamer patterned paper in the 12 x 12 sheets and just cut them into 4 x 4 pieces so I can make 9 cards from one sheets - Great!!

I stamped Riley, that I snatched up at The Town Scrapper, and the A Muse sentiment with Brilliance graphite black ink on Papertrey Ink white and coloured in ol' Riley with copics!

The little dot stamp is from All That Scraps and is called Big Ol' Backgrounds Polka Dots.

I used my blending pen to kind of put a bit of shine on his nose, but I think all I ended up doing was making him look like maybe he had a bit too much of the whiskey in him and went for a tumble!!! LOL! Let's hope not.....but then again --- it IS his day!!

This second card is Riley again, obviously!

This time I used Basic Grey Boxer , for both the patterned papers.

Again, I used Papertrey Ink cardstock for the base and that is also that paper I stamped both the images on!! VERY versatile paper! I love it!

The sentiment is from Inkadinkado and was stamped in Stamping UP! ink Not Quite Navy, some ink that I was able to buy from Julia Stainton when she was purging and I was buying!! (which I always seem to be!! cripes!!)

Ribbon is from The Paper Pickle, because they have these HUGE glass jars at the till - like 6 of them, as big as me, I swear! full of yards and yards of ribbon and you just TRY to check out and that ribbon is staring you in the face screaming --"BUY ME!! BUY ME!! Help me get out of these HUGE glass jars at the till!!"

So I helped them......I did.

And good thing, because it really goes with this card....whew.

Look at his cute little crown!! topped off with a Stamping Bella pearl bauble!!

I love this card!!!

Stretch!!

Yep....this is Stretch! One of the new stamps over at High Hopes. Go check them out!! They have soooo many new stamps and oh so cute!

I bought mine at The Town Scrapper in Petrolia yesterday during our fabulous lunch date with Kraftin' Kimmie! Phebe has so many stamps, not to mention paper, Prima's (which I missed because I was gawking too long at the stamps!!) cuttlebug stuff! Tons!

The patterned paper is part of the Boys Nursery Pack from DCWV and of course, Groovy Guava is Stampin' UP!'s line of cardstock.

I also used So Many Scallops, which was part of the free stamp set that I got when I ordered sooooo much stuff from Stampin' Up through Kraftin' Kimmie!

This little "sweet one" stamp goes perfectly with what I was going for - the wee little baby card!

Ribbon is the aquamist from Papertrey Ink and so is the little piece of scalloped paper under Stretch! I made the scallops with my corner round without the guard! Neato trick!!

I need some sleep...I just came back from a girl's night out with a wee bit'o wine and goodies to munch on!!

Always a bad idea for me to eat past 9:00 pm! Not good for the digestive system! Okay, ya know you're old when you start talking about your digestive tract......LOL!!

Oh, did I tell you about the time........ BWAHAHAHAHAH!!!!

Good Friday Old Friend!

Happy Good Friday everybody! It is a beautiful day in Southern Ontario with the sun shining and it is almost sweater weather!!

Well, not really sweater weather, I am still wearing my winter coat to the barn, but the sun is shining and it feels GREAT!!

I am so behind on my challenges on Splitcoast Stampers, but I jumped in and did the sketch challenge on Wednesday --a bit late mind you--but I had things happening!! Exciting Things!!

Marcie, Jake and I went to lunch in Petrolia today at Actor' (ohmygoodnessitisthemostfabulousplacetoeat!!) with Kraftin' Kimmie and Phebe, The Town Scrapper! What a grand day!


I met so many fellow stampers who are just as enthusiastic about stamping as me!! woohoo! It is always so fun to find people who stamp and then you honestly stop thinking you are the nutty one!!

Let's see if I can remember everyone!

Of course, there was Kim, Marcie and little Jake, Lin from Chatham, Diana (Kim's mom), Connie, Maria from Sarnia, Phebe, and of course, Ellen who own's Actor's and- crap I had to jump over to Kim's blog to see who else - I forgot the other lady's name - Irene - sorry Irene!


I ordered the Sally Field salad which was a mixture of spinach, strawberries, mushrooms, red onion and a bunch of other "good for you" stuff with a fabulous tangerine dressing! Yummy!! Like I said - FABULOUS!!


On to the sketch challenge which was this sketch but I turned my card sideways because I think it fit the sentiment and picture better.


I used the background stamp of itty bitty dots from All That Scraps - it fits so great over your cards and more!! It is BIG!

The Patterned paper is Ginger Blossom from Stampin' UP! and the ribbon is May Arts from All That Scraps.


I stamped GinaK's baskets of happiness stamp on Very Vanilla and coloured it with my copics..... and glittered the flowers up with the copic spica pen.....you can't really see it but it is too pretty!


Oh my gosh! I keep forgetting to tell you that I LOVE GINAK! I mean, honestly, I do!

Yesterday's mail came and there was a little package and I knew I wasn't expecting any happy mail! except Papertrey Ink but that will be awhile probably :(


I opened up my package and out came 6 copics ciao markers!! Oh mother, I forgot I joined the Copic Club,(how you forget that, I'll never know!) I love her - I really do.....!!

It's the Little Things....

I got a new Stamping Up set of stamps that are soooo pretty!!

It is called Happy Harmony and it has the most beautiful fancy font! I love it!!

I used Papertrey Ink white cardstock for the base of my card. I do this almost all of the time because it is such a great, sturdy cardstock and who wants a flimsy old card anyway?!

I saw this layout on Shannan's blog and I was soooo inspired by it -- so I cased it.....because.....I LOVE it!! Thanks Shannan (with an "a")!!

I just tried to find which card it was that I cased and I cannot find it sooooo...... you are just going to have to go through every one of Shannan's posts to find it!!

THAT will be hard chore to do......;) heehee (ohmygodyouwillseriouslyloveeverycreationsheevermade!!!)

The striped patterned paper is from Basic Grey - I'm not sure which one.....the paper was laying in the Basic Grey drawer...sooo?

I embossed the turquoise Bazill cardstock with the swiss dots embossing folder that I got from Scrappin' Great Deals and glued it to the striped paper.

Oh yeh, don't forget that Scrappin' Great Deals has their weekly sale on starting tonight at midnight until tomorrow night midnight. Every week!!!

I added tied this freakin' gorgeous chocolate satin ribbon (which I got at Jacksonbelle Embellishments, who by the way has a brand new shop online and NOT ebay!!) around the paper and added 3 copper brads. Then I glued that whole thing to the white card base.

I inked up the stamp with Versamagic Ocean Depth chalk ink, Versa color Pinecone and Papertrey Ink aquamist and then huffed and puffed on the stamp and stamped it.

I thought it came out great!! It kind of looks like a second generation stamping but that is the huffing, I suppose.

Then I stamped the sentiment in Brilliance black ink overtop. I like the effect!

I popped up this sentiment on the card and yippee do!! done!!

Coaster Tags

I bought a copy of Paper Creations yesterday and I have been looking at it ALL day!

Page 72 has a tutorial on making large tags, so I thought why not use my coasters (since I have 97 left out of the 100 I bought!!)

I really didn't vary much from the way it was done in the magazine.



I like to try to follow pretty much the same idea until I get the feel of what I am doing and to make sure that I like what is happening!


I started with a 4" coaster that I got from Scrappin' Great Deals and cut my double sided SEI dill blossom paper the same size and glued it on. Then I trimmed the corners and sanded the edges till smooth.

I turned over the patterned paper and used that side for the strip down the middle after adhering it to some coral bazzill cardstock. I painted the edges and the back of the coaster coral to match the trim.

Then I just added some rub-ons from My Mind's Eye and SandyLion, flowers from the Cuttlebug dies and the tab from Stamping Up tab punch.

I added a few buttons along the side of the tab just like the magazine article and traced around it with faux stitching.


I tied it with some satin ribbon to a recycled bag filled with a few goodies for our neighbours who just moved into a new home!!

Forgetting the Magnolia!! Ack!!

I've had this card for awhile, but I keep forgetting to post it! ackkk!


This little Magnolia is so cute, holding that little birdy!!


I stamped and coloured her with copics and even added a few little flowers to surround her!


I used the copic spica glitter pen for her wings, although you can never see it in the photos. I think you can click on the picture to get a close up though - try it.....


Her boots have clear dimensional stuff on them - okay the bottle says clear dimensional embellishment.... it is by Inkssentials and I don't consider this an embellishment but whatever!! Well I actually went downstairs and looked and it does say Glossy Accents - so I guess that is good too!! lol!


The sentiment is from "So Many Scallops" - I just cut off the scallops because I don't have the scallop punch and the nestabilities just don't work .


They have a different # of scallops and it just didn't look right - I am such a weenie when it comes to that sort of stuff. I have seen people just use it anyway - and it looks great - but I can't do it-yet!


I added a little bit o' bling from Verve Visual and popped up the sentiment with pop up glue dots.


Oh yeh, first of all I stamped the flourish from Technique Tuesday's flourish set and THEN added the sentiment.....


The paper is that beautiful Ginger Blossoms from Stamping Up that Kraftin' Kimmie ordered for me and Phebe from The Town Scrapper was gracious enough to be used as a drop off point!! What a couple of sweetie-pies!


I don't usually use people, but hey, it's all about the stamping ya know!!??


Off to the barn to gather up the eggs! We have got about 17 feet of snow - well not quite, maybe 4 inches but it seemed like 17 feet yesterday when I had to shovel it out just to open the barn door!!


It is definitely so pretty though, and even if I do love summer better, I KNOW that in the dead of summer I am going to be thinking about the cold days of winter!!

Just Buzzin' Around......

I received this image in an image swap from one of my blogging sisters SBS(2).

I have a lot of them that I need to use up....but they are so fun to have when you need a quick card!!

I believe it is a Stamping Up image but not sure......sorry!

I used DCWV Black and White paper stack for my designer paper, black cardstock and yellow cardstock.

I used my corner rounder to make the scallops in the yellow paper - I love doing that!!

My petite ovals nestabilities were used for the image and the background to the image.

Ribbon is Offray and brads are MM!

Sketch Challenge 163

OH my goodness!!! This is the 3rd time tonight that I have tried to load this stupid blogger!! It better work or I GIVE UP!!!

I have had this Inkadinkado stamp for awhile and have been anxious ( yes, anxious) to ink it up!

You know how when you buy a stamp and then you are not sure just how to use your new stamp, but you know you want to use it, but it has to be just the right thing??!!

Well, I am using it now, for the sketch challenge on Splitcoast Stampers....

I used Basic Grey Blush patterned paper as my background and mounted it on some teal Bazill that I had.

I stamped my Inkadinkado cat stamp and Papertrey Ink's "Out on a Limb" verse in Versamagic turquoise gem and mounted it on the Basic Grey Two Scoops peachy background.

The verse reads "to the moon and back again, to infinity and beyond, forever & ever"! How perfect is that! I stamped the "I love you" at the bottom because I wanted it to be separate and very see-able.....yeh.

I mounted it onto the patterned paper and added some faux stitching around the outside of the peach paper with my turquoise Sakura glitter pen. Then I thought it needed a bit more, so I added more faux stitching around the images on the white paper also.

I tied the teal gauze ribbon around the card and added the heart charm. Then I found a small moon-shaped embellishment in my stash that fit perfectly on the main image and I adhered that.

I used my Sakura glitter pen to go over the stars and then used my turquoise glitter pen to trace around the kitties and the heart, just to show them off a bit more! To finish it off I added Stamping Bella pearl baubles in each corner. That is what I was wondering about before - peach or white? I had peach brads but I didn't want to take away from the image so I just added the white baubles. Pretty!!

Perch for supper! IT was delishhhhh!

A New Technique

Unbelievably I joined in the Technique Lovers Challenge today on Splitcoast Stampers!!

Now, I am NOT one to try new things but I think I should try to go out of the box (cripe-I altered something didn't I?!!)

It was sooo easy, messy and FUN!!

The idea was to use glossy paper and reinkers, and you pronounce that re-inkers. I am telling you this because, stupidly, I was involved in a challenge a few months ago used reinkers, and I was so frustrated because I didn't have a clue as to what "rain-kers" were, that I didn't do that challenge!

That's okay, I used to call the Cricut (cricket), the "cry-cut" and I just discovered that the Copic Ciao (chow) markers are not called See-A-Oh!!

And, honestly, I won spelling bees in school!! Why can't things be spelled the way they sound!!?

Anywho.....I used Tim Holtz alcohol inks, rust and stonewashed, and glossy photo paper for the challenge. You just sprinkle two different coloured inks on the a piece of paper and squish it with another piece. Take it apart and you have two backgrounds!!

I really think it turned out quite pretty!! I had the image from Stamping Up's from an image swap with my Blogging Sisters and I had coloured it in earlier, so this matched perfectly!!

I stamped the sentiment from Papertrey Ink's "Out on a Limb" stamp set and tore it off. Then I just clipped it on with a swirl clip that I had in stock!

I added some offray ribbon, Fancy Pants Stick pin and a flower cut out of my Spellbinders flower die to finish it off!

It is -17 degrees here today.......freakin' cold!!!!

So, I think, the best thing for me to do is retreat to my stamp room and stamp!! Or do laundry, vaccuum, do the dishes, make the beds and ALL THAT JAZZ!

I'm Styling....

Another swap image.....I didn't have to stamp at all....not that I don't like to stamp....I LOVE to stamp!! LOL!!

But today is math class day, so I wanted to put together a card rather quickly, because I won't get back in today most likely.

However, as all things go, believe it or not, this did not go quickly! I always think about it WAY too much, and then when it is done, I see something I should have/would have/could have done!!

For instance, now that I see it on the blog, I think the eyelet cream should be the awning and the stripes the other way around.......ugh... but if I did that I would have thought something else.....quichyerwhinin'!

I LOVE IT!! there.....

The paper is from Basic Grey Gypsy and Mellow, ribbon is Offray from Wal-mart. Oh I do wish we had a Michael's in Chatham or Sarnia....

Well, the good news is the BAT is gone!!

This morning Andy, my son, told us that the bat was in his room last night flapping around, so he slunk out of his bed onto the floor and crawled out of his bedroom to sleep on the couch!!

So Ron and Andy went in there this morning, (I was in my stamping room next door, when Ron ran in and said "DON'T COME OUT!! WE'RE GETTING THE BAT!" and I thought......duh, okay......really, what better place to be trapped in!!? unless you had to pee or something.....!

LOTS of action, thumping!! bumping, hollering!! "GET THE BOX!!" "LOOK OUT!!" "SHUT THE DOOR!!" - that last one had me concerned. I thought they had the door shut all the time....anyway, it is gone now!!

Thank the Lord!

It's funny what silly stuff you pray for when things like that happen ....."please don't let it get me, uh, I mean, get them....please, please!!" I'm just kidding......I know God has more important things to do than listen to me screech about bats!!

But he does listen to me. I know that.

I say (2) because, last I saw, I think they were starting on their 13th sisterhood. It is GREAT, because besides the fact that your "sisters" come and read your blog, you get to know more people out in blogland and that is always good!!

I believe this image is from Stamping Up and one of my siestas sent it to me. I must admit, I didn't like this little guy at first......but he is tooo cute now that I got to know him!! LOL!!

The sentiment is from Verve Visual. I thought it would be PERFECT, "you're on my mind" - for an elephant!! I think they have new sets coming out tomorrow!! Check it out!

I even painted his little toenails.....maybe it is a she then LOL!!

I used daisy d's "Maybe Baby"paper that I got from All That Scraps! It is so cute with all its pinks and blues and baby papers and Valentine's papers!

The ribbon was white, so I had to colour it with my copics. That is so great to be able to do!! The ribbon becomes a little stiffer but not much and it only takes about 5 minutes to dry, if even that!!

The brads are Basic Grey's Two Scoops - YES!! brads to match!!

I wonder what she is thinking......

Oh this little girl is soooo sweet!

I have seen her in the Stamping Up catalogue, and always thought, no way, too hard. Well, then I received her in my Sisterhood of the Blogging Stampers (2) swap, from AnnMarie, hi AnnMarie!! and I thought I would give it a shot!

We have so much snow here, and it is so darn miserable out, that this little girl gives me the shivers, standing there in her cute little dress!

I colored her with my copics and mounted her on a scalloped oval from my nestabilities.

The base of the card is cardstock from Walmart and sei designer papercalled Granny's Kitchen. It is so nice to work with and I LOVE browns and turquoises! (is THAT a word?!)

The sentiment is a well-known verse and it says "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away." It is a stamp from Papertrey Ink's "Out on a Limb", a gorgeous set with so many pretty sayings.

I am going to be posting some things I have been working on with this set, later.

The ribbon is 1 " beautiful chocolate ribbon from Jacksonbelle Embellishments.

How do you like my little flapper weather girl? I saw her over at Tracy's blog and I couldn't resist! although I don't like the temperature she is telling me! but I think it is better than out in Calgary, where it was -29 the other day!! YIKES!

Friday night!!! Remember when you could hardly wait for Friday nights because they were date night....well tonight, hubby is out in the shop working on his ice hut so he can go ice fishing......oh well, that just means a stamping day for me!!

Be Mine Little Penguin....

I so LOVE this stamp set!!.....again, I think I start almost every post this way!!

But seriously, he is sooooo dang cute!!

I broke out the Basic Grey Periphery pad and actually used some paper from it!

I don't know what it is about a NEW paper pad, but I detest using it-for fear I will use it up - I mean look what happened to my Figgy Pudding! GONE!! Well, I could probably scrounge up some scraps - but come on!

This little guy is from CC Designs and is EZ Mounted Little Penguins - that is they are all cut out and ready to be used. As soon as they arrived from All That Scraps, I opened up the package and started stamping - so freakin' FUN!!

Pengy (as I lovin'ly call him - hard "g" by the way) was colored with my copics and I used my NEW copic glitter pen for the little flowers - this pen is similar to the Sakura glitter pen but apparently it has ground up glass in it to make it REALLY **sparkle** Personally, I couldn't really tell the difference, but I guess I will have to use it ALOT!! *wink* and I will tell you again what I think....

I cut him out and embossed him with my nestabilities, then adhered him on various shapes and sizes of my beloved Periphery (I know, I know - my Figgy was beloved too-and it was!)

Scrappin' Great Deals has nestabilities, by the way, and they have new shapes and sizes in too!! Don't forget about her Wednesday sale 9:00 am - 9:00 pm, but she usually posts it about Tuesday night at 9:00 pm, so you can get in on it early!!

I used my white gel pen to make white scallops around the scalloped square and then popped the whole thing up onto the back ground of - yes - you guessed it- Periphery!!

The little tag was cut out with the small tag Cuttlebug die and then stamped with "be mine" by Papertrey Ink's Limitless Labels.

I tied it on with some Stamping Up celery ribbon (I can't BELIEVE I am starting to know the colors..... yay me!) and done!!

FS49 Grateful Hearts

Today's featured stamper is Veronica aka I'mVeronica. She has a small, but fabulous gallery on Splitcoast Stampers.!!

I chose to keep the same layout, but I changed the stamp set, reason being-- I don't have this stamp set! LOL!

My stamp is called Branch Flight by Stampendous and the hearts in the background are Impression Obsession Inc. - small heart solid.

I love the elegantness of this card. I think it could be interchangeable for birthday, thank you, sympathy - a lot of great cards!

The ink I used was Adirondack dye ink - Lettuce, for the Branch Flight stamp. The hearts were stamped with Paper Salon's Petal, a gorgeous pale pink that was perfect for the image I was going for.

The "grateful" stamp is from Stamping Up's small script. My daughter saw it at a craft sale, and she scooped it up - rather quickly I might add - actually before I even got to see it!
