TLC183 Krafty Cardinal...

This is a few days late for the SCS challenge but no matter......it's here now!

I made this card for the new technique challenge on Splitcoast Stampers this week which is faux dry embossing, VERY cool!!! but realized that I could also tinker it for Sharon Johnson's JULIE IS HOT!! challenge!!

Don't you just love it when that happens!!?

When I was over at Marcie's yesterday watching that cute little guy Jake, (cutest baby in the world by the way......la la da la) I borrowed a piece of her new Papertrey Pure Poppy paper and her new Inkadinkado Cardinal Silhouette stamp and her ink!!!

I used Versamark for the first image (the shadow) and then white ink - sorry don't know which brand - for the 2nd image!

I highlighted it with my glitter pen and then proceeded to layer the image up onto white and kraft cardstock!

I used my new border embossing folder, but I used it three times - of course the time I don't need a border, that's all I have!!

Those pretty baubles are the crystal bon bons from Stamping Bella and they are just like a mirror!! I love them!!

I posted two pictures because they are both such different colours but both the same card....... KWIM?? That drives me crazy.......

Texasjodylynn's Dare to get Dirty Challenge was to find some GREAT ribbon and be inspired by said ribbon!

Well, who said Hallowe'en was too far away?

I have already seen Christmas cards so surely I can put together a Hallowe'en card!!

I used Memory Box paper from Ellen Hutson and my Inkadinkadoo stamp.


The ribbon I chose is from the Paper Pickle and I have wined before about that luscious ribbon that just sits at the counter - jars and JARS of it!!! and of course I grabbed this thinking it would be great for - uh huh!! Hallowe'en cards!!

Amy R's Sketch......

Okay, don't shoot me, I promise this is the last Riley the moose card!

Well, there are actually two cards - but I love him so much that I can't resist......I WILL be using him for Father's day obviously. I think he is a fabulous image!! (can ya tell!!)

This card is for Amy R's Friday sketch which you can find here.

I used Dream Street Paper's Daydreamer patterned paper in the 12 x 12 sheets and just cut them into 4 x 4 pieces so I can make 9 cards from one sheets - Great!!

I stamped Riley, that I snatched up at The Town Scrapper, and the A Muse sentiment with Brilliance graphite black ink on Papertrey Ink white and coloured in ol' Riley with copics!

The little dot stamp is from All That Scraps and is called Big Ol' Backgrounds Polka Dots.

I used my blending pen to kind of put a bit of shine on his nose, but I think all I ended up doing was making him look like maybe he had a bit too much of the whiskey in him and went for a tumble!!! LOL! Let's hope not.....but then again --- it IS his day!!

This second card is Riley again, obviously!

This time I used Basic Grey Boxer , for both the patterned papers.

Again, I used Papertrey Ink cardstock for the base and that is also that paper I stamped both the images on!! VERY versatile paper! I love it!

The sentiment is from Inkadinkado and was stamped in Stamping UP! ink Not Quite Navy, some ink that I was able to buy from Julia Stainton when she was purging and I was buying!! (which I always seem to be!! cripes!!)

Ribbon is from The Paper Pickle, because they have these HUGE glass jars at the till - like 6 of them, as big as me, I swear! full of yards and yards of ribbon and you just TRY to check out and that ribbon is staring you in the face screaming --"BUY ME!! BUY ME!! Help me get out of these HUGE glass jars at the till!!"

So I helped them......I did.

And good thing, because it really goes with this card....whew.

Look at his cute little crown!! topped off with a Stamping Bella pearl bauble!!

I love this card!!!

Sketch Challenge 163

OH my goodness!!! This is the 3rd time tonight that I have tried to load this stupid blogger!! It better work or I GIVE UP!!!

I have had this Inkadinkado stamp for awhile and have been anxious ( yes, anxious) to ink it up!

You know how when you buy a stamp and then you are not sure just how to use your new stamp, but you know you want to use it, but it has to be just the right thing??!!

Well, I am using it now, for the sketch challenge on Splitcoast Stampers....

I used Basic Grey Blush patterned paper as my background and mounted it on some teal Bazill that I had.

I stamped my Inkadinkado cat stamp and Papertrey Ink's "Out on a Limb" verse in Versamagic turquoise gem and mounted it on the Basic Grey Two Scoops peachy background.

The verse reads "to the moon and back again, to infinity and beyond, forever & ever"! How perfect is that! I stamped the "I love you" at the bottom because I wanted it to be separate and very see-able.....yeh.

I mounted it onto the patterned paper and added some faux stitching around the outside of the peach paper with my turquoise Sakura glitter pen. Then I thought it needed a bit more, so I added more faux stitching around the images on the white paper also.

I tied the teal gauze ribbon around the card and added the heart charm. Then I found a small moon-shaped embellishment in my stash that fit perfectly on the main image and I adhered that.

I used my Sakura glitter pen to go over the stars and then used my turquoise glitter pen to trace around the kitties and the heart, just to show them off a bit more! To finish it off I added Stamping Bella pearl baubles in each corner. That is what I was wondering about before - peach or white? I had peach brads but I didn't want to take away from the image so I just added the white baubles. Pretty!!

Perch for supper! IT was delishhhhh!

I just love my new set of Inkadinkado stamps!

I stamped this image in Versa Agean Blue and then kind of touched it up with brown marker and my gold leaf pen.

I cut it out with the scalloped rectangle nestabilites and outlined them in gold leaf pen also.


Geeez......I hope that thing never goes dry....I love it! It gives a real great glow to everything you mark.

I stamped the Merry Christmas sentiment in Agean Blue and then used Adironack Brown to stamp overtop so it looks like there is a shadow --it kind of looked really blurry at first and I thought I was having a stroke......true story.

Then I took the good ol' gold leaf pen and highlighted it and then it wasn't soooo blurry.
This stamp set has a beautiful flourish, to which I added ink on just half of it. Again I shadowed it with the brown ink and highlighted with the gold.

I added a bit of gold thread, vanilla ribbon and a gold brad and now it looks like it is hanging up !-----as stockings do!!

Dashing off to eat supper--roasted turkey breast marinated in a secret sauce---hubby won't tell me ---this is his thing!!

Cardinal Christmas!

Hey Everybody!

I babysat on Thursday and I was driving all over on Friday so I haven't been very productive!

However, today, I was able to get back at it and I have some things to show you! YAY!

I drove into Scrappin' Great Deals on Friday morning to pick up an order.

Oh my gosh....I ordered some nestabilities ages ago and they were on back order so when Sheila e-mailed me and said "The boxes are here!!! I haven't gone through them all yet - but they are here, so come on over!" I went!!

Of course when I was there, she had these sweet stamp sets - Inkadinkado Holiday Silhouette Stamp Set, and I really couldn't resist them.

So then when I got home hubby said, "Let's go to Chatham for groceries". For some reason that man always has to eat lunch and supper which means there has to be food in the house - which there isn't. So off we went to get groceries and the whole time I was thinking about my new stamp set and nestabilities!! (hidden in my car - but you knew that....)

I finally got to stamp this morning and this is what I came up with.

I stamped the cardinal in Versa red and then masked it to add the pine cone branch. Then I masked the branch to add another branch. The second one sort of looks like it is hanging onto nothing but that is how it is going to stay.

There was only one piece of evergreen at first, but then the sponging came out kind of wonky so I added a leaf to the branch. Then I got thinking that evergreens really shouldn't have a maple leaf attached and so by this time, I was getting frustrated and when I took it off --it ripped the paper!! That is when I decided to add another piece of evergreen. You can still kind of see it but not too much....cover up time!!

Basic Grey Scarlet Letter is glued to olive green cardstock for the background.

I added a ribbon and then glued the teeny weeny red ribbon to the green ribbon and added a halfbow for a bit of interest.

Sometimes it takes forever to do a card!!

Oh my gosh, I almost forgot the VERY BEST PART OF THE DAY!! ......besides being with my hubby (that goes without saying)

Since I get to look after my little grandson who is the cutest baby EVER...... (I betcha didn't know that) my son-in-law picked up a JANOME SEWING MACHINE!!!!! for me!!!!!

I just about fell through the floor! Now I have to figure out how to use it AND find a spot for it. Marcie is going to have to come over and organize my room so I can start using it. Isn't he just the best son-in-law EVER!? I doubt if Marcie had anything to do with it at all......(right)

On second thought......

You know how you make a card and think -

"Hey, I kind of like that"

and then you go make supper and when you come back and look at it - someone has been in there and made your card not so great!?

Well, I think that happened with this card - although it is growing on me.

The premise is good......that layout is fine, it is just that RED! and a bit of wasted space, now that I look at it.....sometimes you really have to take a step back! Probably best to do that before you post it! HAhaha!

I had to borrow Marcie's paper piercer because I broke mine trying to pry my scalloped circle nestability off of my cuttlebug mat........oh boy.....try to remember to keep that cutting side up.......LOL! I didn't notice until I started piercing that HER paper piercer was snipped off at the end also - thus the big piercings.

Then I had to use my Stamping Up tag maker punch for the bottom of this card (not so bad) because I broke my corner punch....... a wee bit of an expensive day.

Edited to add: Sounds like a lot of complaining about this card - funny thing is - the more I look at it, the more I like it! Forgot to mention about paper piecing the hat and scarf! Stamped it on red cardstock, cut it out and pieced it.

AND I bought a whole boat load of other "stuff" online today, because we are going to be at another bazaar, for the school this time, in two weeks so please, please, please hopefully everything comes in time!! (Papertrey Ink, Scrapping Great Deals, Pink Cat Studio, Verve Visual - if you are reading this please put everyone else's order aside and just look after mine..... ROFL!)

Actually, if it doesn't show up in time for this bazaar, there is always next year!!

Now this card I loved right from the start because I absolutely think this is the cutest little stamp going! It is from Magenta and I bought it at the Paper Pickle, my local stamp store. Don't they just look like they are all snuggled up!?

Cuttlebugged the green cardstock with the snowflake folder (it definitely is not that bright of a green IRL) Used my corner punch on the bottom of the green paper ( I did this card before I broke my punch!) and then on the bottom of the stamped image paper.

I dug out my shimmer chalks that I haven't used in ages and just dusted the angels with them. Then I took my Krylon silver leafing pen and traced around the image-- popped it up with with some dimensionals, added some L'il Davis ribbon and brads and done.

Very easy!

I have to go and get my spot in front of the TV--Desperate Housewives is on soon and I think something happens to Lynette!!

I am sooo looking forward to the next couple of weeks when I get a whole bunch of NEW SUPPLIES!!

Transparency Cards

These cards are sooooo easy to make and REALLY fun!! It was neat to try to do something so very cool and not to get my fingerprints all over it!

I wasn't really planning on using transparency to layer over this card but it seemed to lend to it after I started double stamping.

Using my Inkadinkadoo stamp set "Holiday Swirls" I stamped the main image in Versamagic Chalk Ink Aegean Blue then embossed it with holographic embossing powder. You can't really see that in the photo but it is REALLY pretty!! I sponged around the outside with Versamagic Chalk Ink Aspen Mist, then layered it on some metallic blue cardstock.

The base of my card is paper from Papertrey Ink (y'all know how I feel about that paper - LUV IT!) which is so luvingly heavy and perfect for card bases. I stamped the swirls (Inkadinkado) and snowflakes from Hampton Art Stamps and Art Impressions in Aegean Blue and then restamped overtop and kind of to the side (clear as mud?) in Aspen Mist.

Then I adhered my image on top and thought I was finished! But the more I kept looking at it - I knew it needed something else. I left my stamping room and came back later (after all those wifely duties etc.!! LOL!!) and just knew what I wanted to do with that card!

I cut the transparency to fit over top of the card and laid it on top. Then, using StazOn Cotton White ink I stamped the swirls again once more overtop and kind of to the side. A couple of eyelets later - then it was done!

There are a lot of shadows in this photo, which is so easy to do with transparency cards. The lighting has to be just right and since I don't live in a studio!! Man, I tried.....

My second card is just pure transparency......after getting along okay with the first one I thought I would go whole hog and do a whole transparency card!!

Nichole from Papertrey Ink has a SUPER DUPER card on her website and I was humbly inspired by her to try this one.......

Measure a piece of transparency 8 1/2" by 5 1/2" and score in the middle at 4 1/4". I stamped my snowflake stamps from Art Impressions and Hampton Art Stamps with StazOn Cotton White Ink on the front of the card.

Using my round scalloped nestability (is it singular?! LOL!) I cut out 4 circles and attached them with clear pop dots. Make sure you line them up perfectly or it will be - well - not good!!

I stamped the sentiment inside with a Holiday Wishes stamp from Papertrey Ink

As you can see - it is very hard to take a photograph because of all the shadows and glares and flares etc. but it is really pretty!!

Have to go and clean up the kitchen, make the beds, do the laundry, think of something for lunch....but first....I should make a few cards....LOL!!

Criss Cross, Applesauce....

That is an old rhyme that Marcie says to her little guy, Jake who, by the way, was the cutest little chicken ever for Hallowe'en!! Just look at that little guy!!


It goes something like this:

and that is all I know because when she does it to Jake, he squeals so loud that I can never hear the next lines!

It is sooo funny and of course soooo cute!
I mean he IS my grandson!!


I did a Christmas criss-cross card for this bazaar we are having at our church. The tutorial for this card is so easy, although I found it time consuming!! Catch it on Splitcoast Stampers!

I made it using Christmas paper that I dug out from my paper stash (you know the one where you have all the patterned paper that you never use and then one day you decide to look through it and --lo and behold!! -tons of paper that you LOVE!! ROFL!!



So, because of that, I am not sure what paper it is. But I like it....

I sandpapered the edges because the paper is a kind of antiquey paper - yellowy whites etc.

This is so lame, but I can't tell you one thing about this card other than the stamps I used.


Merry Christmas is from Inkadinkadoo and the swirl is from Technique Tuesday.

Ribbon was old ribbon leftover from another project.
Flowers were punched out of cardstock with my punches and attached with a couple of brads!

Oh yes, of course!

I used my Stamping Up tab punch , I love that thing!!

One piece of advice, which I have heard over and over again but of course I thought I could get away with it.

I really thought that all of the glue I used to hold down the ribbon would take the folds out of the ribbon but.....you can see......I was wrong.

Iron your ribbon people!!

So, I guess this one will just be a prototype and the next time I am going to iron my ribbon.....oooooo...........

Christmas too.....

Before I race (hobble) off to the chiropractor, I wanted to post this card that I made a couple of days ago.

This card is based (or cased) from Nichole Heady on Papertrey Ink. I loved the non-traditional colors she used for her card, but I didn't have any shimmer paper, but I did have Heidi Grace shimmer glitter paper, that I got at Scrapping Great Deals,and Inkadinkado stamps so I made due.

This card uses Inkadinkado Christmas decorations stamped on cardstock then punched out with my marvy rectangle punch and mounted on marvy scalloped rectangle punchout.

I stamped the image in Versamagic Azure Blue and then used clear acrylic on two of the baubles and stickles diamond on the middle one. Hard to see the stickles, but it is there!

I used my Stamping Up slot punch to make a slot then threaded my ribbon throught it to tie a knot. The corners of the stamped image were snipped with my ticket punch and brads were added. I used my paper piercer to punch all around the scalloped (note to self: pierce the paper before adding the brads - it's just easier) Then I used pop dots to glue down my rectangle image and done. So easy a card!

Okay, off to the chiropractor to fix my back! YAY ! please, please, please...

Is it Christmas yet!

I love that Christmas is coming!!


I mean, I am not ready in the least, even though I am hosting Christmas this year for my hubby's family - YIKES!! but I love Christmas stamps and the variety of colors that are appropriate to use now.


Red and Green used to be the only colors but now anything goes!


Of course, to get in the mood I used the traditional colors in this cute little card.



Inkadinkado clear Christmas stamps are some of the greatest IMO, and this set Holiday Swirls is top of my list.


Just a snowman set, you say? ....no way! This set is so full of swirls and curls..there is a tag stamp, snowflakes, decorations and of course the snowman! and everything has few cutesy little swirls around them! I LOVE it!!



I used Basic Grey Fruitcake on this card, both sides, a bit of red cardstock and the dreaded sewing (that I detest doing!) - however this is faux sewing, which is a great timesaver and it doesn't look too bad!


Giga punched a scalloped circle and glued on the snowman and there you go. A bit of Bo Bunny ribbon (it's satin and soooo beautiful!)


I like it!


I put my back out at the beginning of the week vacuuming - so YAY! no more vacuuming for me, but Boo! I can't walk straight up and down like normal people - just sort of bent over ape-like,!! HAHA and that is why there has been no posting lately. Off to the chiropractor this afternoon because it still feels like daggers in my back....ugh ...
