I did this card for Beate's sketch challenge and I think that it is probably too late.....but fun just the same!
I also tried the New Technique challenge today on Splitcoast Stampers called Hittin' the Bottle (funny!) which was to use reinkers to watercolour!
As you can see it is a graduation card using U R A Hoot from Cornish Heritage Farms.
The base of my card is Very Vanilla from Stampin' UP! Someone told me that Stamping Up is coming out with a new catalogue soon! Is that true??!
I layered on Basic Grey's Archaic paper the way that Beate's sketch showed, with a bit of chocolate chip and very vanilla in the middle.
I stamped the owl image on water colour paper with Colorbox Dark brown fluid ink - and I love this ink, but wouldn't use again for watercolouring. I don't know if it was the paper or the ink but it kind of seeped around, which is why the eyes and cute little toes are popped up - so it worked out anyway.....
I got out my Chocolate chip and Creamy Caramel reinker and an empty CD case.
I used the CD case as my plate and blopped on a drop of Chocolate chip and a drop of Creamy Caramel - both separate drops. Then I added a couple of drops of water-also separately - so now I have three weeny puddles of liquid in a CD case.
I dipped my paintbrush in the chocolate chip ink and brushed it onto a separate spot on the CD case. Then I took a drop of water and mixed it with that separate spot. I did this so that I wouldn't water down the whole drop of Chocolate Chip reinker and have to start all over again if I didn't like it!
I did the same thing with the Creamy Caramel so now I have 5 puddles - 3 weeny puddles and two teeny weeny puddles.
Anyway, I painted the owl the best I could, as you can see I
I cut the little guy out and popped him up on the tree limb, which was already popped out.
I also stamped the graduation cap and coloured it with Black diamond stickles - because I LOVE blingy thingies!! and then I popped it up!
I stamped the apple from The Landing Pad and coloured it with a red copic. Then I went over the apple with Ranger glossy accents. You HAVE to have a shiny apple in a school picture!!!
So then the red was sort of out there like a sore thumb, so I added a huge red Autumn Leaves button tied with some twine.
Threading that twine was the most ridiculously time consuming thing on this card! I was kind of going buggy eyed doing that little job!
I added some faux stitching around the outside - and it was done!! YAY!
I love it when I can put down a card and say - oh my goodness, I LOVE IT!!
WOW ,ALot of work But So worth it THIS card is AWESOME !!!! WOW I love it !!!
