Today's preview is called Bound by the Heart and it is a beautiful, thoughtful set by Julia, that can equally be used for Mother's Day or Father's Day and will be available on March 17th!
There are two cards today, so be sure to take a peek at the second card - it is part of our Little Paper Shop monthly challenge.
I wanted a soft muted look since I was using this gorgeous Scenic Route Sonoma designer paper. It is a little bright and I think it needed to be toned down a bit for my card, so Papertrey Ink's Vintage Cream and Spring Moss was the answer.
The bottom of the card is stamped in Spring Moss with the border from the Little Paper Shop Friends set. I then stamped the beautiful sentiment over top with Dark Chocolate Ink.
The word "Mother", "Father", "Mom" and "Dad" are separate stamps and therefore can be stamped with a different coloured ink!! which is what I did with the Berry Sorbet ink.
I ran some red-line tape down the back of the ribbon and adhered it to the seam that separated the designer paper and the sentiment piece.
The button treatment is actually 3 layers - a cream coloured button, topped by a flowered pink and cream button, topped again by a coffee coloured adhesive pearl.
I punched some "boughs" from the Martha Stewart punch in Dark Chocolate cardstock and tucked them in behind the button.
My next card is for our monthly challenge at Little Paper Shop and this month our hostess Mel has challenged us to "Stitch it Up!", that is either sew, stitch, or faux-sew!
I love sewing, but I chose to fake it by using the Stamping Up! Top Note die cute, which has some built in stitching yay!!
I used Little Paper Shop's new set debuting on the 17th, Bound by the Heart, and chose to use the "Dad" stamp with the sentiment. A few buttons, sewed on I might add, oh never mind, it's just twine.....what was I thinking??! It's faux sewing then. Yeh, that's it.
I hope you enjoyed the previews on my blog today. Please jump around to the other designer's blogs (on my side panel) and check out their previews of this gorgeous stamp set, Bound by the Heart!

ReplyDeleteThese are SO sweet. Love the built in stitching. TOO clever. :O) Your colour combos & layouts are just SO very pretty! I think I always admire stampers who've mastered those elements so well, since I find them so tricky. The details you add are just pure loveliness! :O)
ReplyDeleteGreat cards! I love the dp on the first one...and the stacked buttons are wonderful! I even like the second one although you cheated on it. Built in stitches, puhleez! Okay, it's nice too...and I like the buttons.
ReplyDeleteWV: squall
Oh the squall she caused by using a die cut with built in stitches!
How appropriate, no?
