Once Upon a Time....Teapot Challenge

This week's card goes to Rebekah, a fellow teapotter's daughter and her story is at the end of this post....

I was inspired by this card by fellow Design Team member Julia Aston - always an inspiration and really also an enabler!!

I stamped the image and sentiments from Half-Pint Heroines in Memento Tuxedo Black and paper pieced the balloon.

The little girl's head was then stamped - there are several different head images to work with in this set.

I stamped and hand cut the clouds and then ran them through the heart embossing folder to add some texture.

The inside of my card is where Julia's enabling comes in - that cute little Memory Box die is the culprit!

I love the Modern Landscape die on Julia's card so I had to get it myself to make sure it really is as cute as it looks - and it IS!!

So here is Rebekah's story and you can see how this card will hopefully make her birthday a little happier!

"Fellow Teapotter Mary lives with Lupus and RA. She struggles with unbearable pain and the ups and downs of her health issues. She has a difficult time coming to our teaparties on a regular basis but her heart is with us.

Mary is only 48 years old and in April, while walking down a hall way at work, her hip broke. She had been in an extreme pain leading up to that happening and just thought the pain was due to her medical condition.

But actually, she had been walking on a stress fracture for about 3 weeks and didn't even know it. Mary sat on the floor in the hallway at work in pain for an entire hour before someone discovered her and called the ambulance.

She immediately had hip surgery. Mary's husband was on a plane back from Detroit without cell service so he was pretty freaked out when he landed and took the call.

Now you know how mom's are! It's not about Mary, her Lupus, her RA or even her emergency surgery for her broken hip!

In Mary's eyes, it was all about her daughter Rebekah whose birthday party that week had to be cancelled. And to make matters worse, it was Spring break and Mary and her daughter had so many fun things planned!

But as so often happens, that's not what life brought. Rebekah spent Spring break in the hospital with her mom and didn't have her much anticipated birthday party with her friends.

Mary apologized to her for ruining all their plans to spend time together and Rebekah's reply was “Momma, you said we were going to spend time together this week. We ARE spending time together, it's all good!”"

So really, how sweet is that! So this card is for Rebekah.....

  2. Awww... Just now (post comment above) read Mary & Rebekah's story. So sweet. What a wonderful girl Mary has raised in spite of (and maybe, in someway, because of) all her issues. Thanks for sharing this.
