It's not easy being green........**Twinkle**

It is time once again for Madelynn's Twinkling Tuesday challenge and today Madelynn's little brother Nicky is the "Temporary Twinkie"!

Nicky likes frogs so today's challenge is to incorporate a frog into your card! If you don't have a frog stamp, which is entirely possible ;), then any other type of reptile will do!! Feel free to play along and leave the magic keyword MTTSC20!!

I just so happened to have a frog stamp and it's none other than Kermit the Frog!! My sketch is from CPS113 sketch this week, a perfect layout for Kermit!

I love this stamp but I only used a bit of it because the actual stamp also has frog feet all over it!! so I cut out the part I wanted and paper pieced it all over the place, his eyes, his little neck frill, his arms, his tongue and his mouth and
then popped it up onto Papertrey Ink's 2008 Bitty Bot Basics Patterned paper which was cut out with the Spellbinders Labels Four die....whew....hand crampage....

I tore the K & Company paper across the width as per the CPS sketch, but it is kind of hard to tell. I guess I have the ribbon covering it...dang it! I wonder why I never notice those things until I get it up on the blog??.....

Thanks for coming around today and I am out the door to take Holly to Math Class......lots of fun and sometimes a bit of drama....

Supplies:
Stamps: Kermit the Frog by Inkadinkado, Verve Stamps
Paper: Papertrey Ink Sweet Blush and Kraft cardstock, K & Company Wild Raspberry specialty paper
Accessories: Papertrey Ink Spring Moss ribbon, Spellbinders Labels Four die, Cuttlebug Leafy Branch embossing folder, Autumn Leaves button, twine, foam tape (Taylored Expressions)

Little Paper Shop sketch challenge!

It's time for the Little Paper Shop weekly challenge and this week we have a sketch challenge and since Little Paper Shop is also turning ONE YEAR OLD!!!, we have a prize for the sketch challenge!!

One random winner gets to choose 2 new digital images!! Winner will be announced the following Monday. Entries should leave a comment with a link to their card on the LPS blog.

I found it so difficult to get a good picture of this ca
rd today......It was kind of hazy out and these greens are a challenge, but anyway here it is.

Since I needed a birthday card, I grabbed the {Make a Wish} stamp set, and followed the sketch!

Please leave the keyword LPSC13 when you upload to Splitcoaststampers or Papercraft Planet so we can all s
ee your wonderful creation!!

On a little selfish note..... did you see on The Paper Clip by Paper Pretties??!! I have the Prettie Card of the Week! My Hola Chica card caught their attention and so it is the featured card!! YAY!

Okay, off to the chiropractor this morning....ugh....have a good day!!

Kleenex Inspiration!

Today's inspiration challenge is all about Kleenex!! Find a kleenex box on this site and be inspired.

I chose the Kleenex box from the Naturals category in browns and pinks (you can't link to the exact box) and I used Papertrey Ink's Life stamp set, Papertrey Ink cardstock and Papertrey ink ribbon and button.......do I sound like a stuck record??!!

This is a short post because it is 75 degrees outside and I am going out to play!!! yay!!

Make Yourself at Home....

Today's Limited Supply Challenge was so cool! Make a card based on one of the rooms in your home. Well, my kitchen is a gorgeous red colour, and since I had just received this sweet little Hola Chica in the mail from Paper Pretties (available soon!!), it was the perfect stamp to use!!

Scroll down to see a peek at my kitchen. There is NO WAY I would show you the whole thing......it always has farm papers (ya, farm papers.....not cardstock and not designer paper and certainly not cards.....just farm papers) strewn all over....lol!!

I used Prism cardstock and Basic Grey Marrakech designer paper for this little chic, so I could make her all pretty and bright!

I used my new Spellbinders Labels Four to cut her out and then I paper pieced her skirt and her blouse. I had coloured the blouse orange and I didn't like it so I restamped and coloured and cut and paper pieced again so that it was aqua.

The tag is from Spellbinders Wizard Tag Trio and
has the sentiment stamped on it and then I attached it to a Prima Flower with a Basic Grey brad and popped it up onto the image!

I was over at Marcie's babysitting sweet little baby Robin, so I had to make do with a corner punch to make the scallops (poor ol' me!!) I think a Stamping UP Scallop punch better go on Marcie's Christmas list!!

Bundle of Joy!

I finally feel that I can settle down and do some creative work now! I got my taxes in!! YAY!! Canada's deadline is April 30th, so that gives us a few more days, but in reality it just makes me procrastinate longer......anywhooooooo now they are in and waiting to find out what I owe, I owe, I owe, or get back.

Honestly, I was so uptight about those dang taxes. My thought is, why the heck should I be doing the government's work for them? If they want my money, let them figure it out themselves.......okay, teeny tiny rant over!

Yesterday's Splitcoaststampers sketch challenge was a cute one, so while I was looking after my sweet little granddaughter, Robin (who kind of turned into an alien yesterday....) I was able to make a card with scraps from her mother's stash! Ahhhh, the perks of babysitting....and to think, it used to be the potato chips!!

This sweet paper is Animal Crackers by Making Memories and is perfect for baby cards!

The onesie is a stamp from Papertrey Ink's Bitty Baby Blessings and I stamped it onto Spring Rain cardstock, cut it out and popped it up onto the Labels One die cut from Spellbinders.

I added a little Hero Arts bling on the letter "d" fir
st and then also added two buttons on the side!!

We are off to get our Canadian passports today.....just in case we take a small trip somewhere. Marcie and I are talking about going to CHA in Florida in July, so that would be tooo exciting to even think about, so I am not going to think about it.....right now lol!!

Quick Sympathy.....

There is probably something a little sacrilegious about making a quick sympathy card, you know, not putting much time into it....but I guess if it goes together quick.....go for it!!

The image is from Gina K Designs and it is from the set Comfort and Peace.

I ran a piece of Kim Hughes Mocha Chica paper through the Textile Cuttlebug embossing folder and glued it to my card base, Papertrey Ink Stampers Select White.

I used Tombow Markers on the stamp and spritzed it with water and then stamped the image onto the cardstock.

I popped it up onto the Mocha Chica paper and added some Hero Arts crystals in each corner.

To finish it off, I tied a piece of ribbon around the edge! See, quick and easy!

Thanks for coming around today and I want to thank everyone who has wished me good luck (I'll need it!!) in my journey with the "Dirty Dozen"!! It means alot to have your support behind me, kicking me in the butt every once in awhile....lol!!

Twinkling Tuesday and Spanish Sparkle....

ETA: I was asked if I could have used a glue pad to put the glitter on and .....um....yes.....that might have been easier and less messier.....WHAT is the matter with me??!!!
LOL!!

It's Madelynn's Twinkling Tuesday sketch challenge time and this week our sketch comes from Jack Diedrich, who is Jessica's son and Jack gave us this fun-luvin' sketch!!

and this is how I interpreted the sketch ...

I started by using my Spanish Script Backgrounder and stamping it in Memento black Ink onto Vintage Cream cardstock. Then I stamped the flower from Cornish Heritage Farms Silhouette Blooms II, with Versamark Ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. When it was still nice and hot, I dumped my Martha Stewart glitter on top, and then it stuck to the versamark!

I cut it out with Spellbinders Curved Rectangles and then edged it with my gold paint pen. I popped it up onto another sheet with the Spanish Script backgrounder stamped on it and tied the edges with gold ribbon from Papertrey Ink!

Very easy and I should not have been sweating over this card at all! "Should not" being the operative words! I always sweat over a card even if it looks ridiculously easy or not!! Just my nature I guess...

Please take a moment to check out the other girl's blogs, on my side bar, to see what wonderful things they have done with Jack's sketch!! They are sure to be amazing to say the least!!

You are most certainly welcome to play with us, and if you do, please use the keyword MTTSC19 for this week's sketch challenge.

Growing Old....and more....

This is the final day for previews for the new releases at Little Paper Shop. The releases will be available tomorrow, Tuesday!!

This set is called {Growing Old} and is a big set of sentiments only, full of humorous sayings about getting old! When I received it, I e-mailed Julia and said "WHEN can we use these???!" They are so funny and I can certainly appreciate them as I get more mature ;) ya, mature.....

Gramps is a digital image available now along with several other new digi images that have been available for awhile on Little Paper Shop......instant gratification!!

Isn't he cute with his frosty mug of beer!! I used a bit of Judikins Diamond Glaze on the mug and White Perfect Puff for the foamy beer.....

I paper pieced his clothes, which is so easy to do with a digital image....you just print it off once on your white cardstock for the main image, and then print it again onto designer paper, which is Basic Gray Marrakech in this instance.

The base of my card is Papertrey Ink Dark Chocolate and I used the Small Gingham backgrounder from Impression Obsession in a different sort of way. I bought a Ranger Craft Sheet at Scrapfest this weekend, mostly because I felt that that would MAKE me clean up my workspace so I would have room for the mat! It is a fabulous product that you can j
ust wipe down after spilling getting anything on it!!

For the background I took my Fresh Snow inkpad and stamped it all over the craft sheet, so that there was ink all over. Then I took my gingham backgrounder and stamped it onto the ink on the craft mat, just as if it was the ink pad. Then I stamped it onto the cardstock.

It just left sort of a mottled look to the background paper because I didn't want anything too bright or white! Just a different sort of technique .....and I did it that way on purpose even.....it wasn't even an accidental finding which is amazing in itself!!

And what do you think of that amazing button!! That is one of the techniques we learned this weekend with our class with Vicki Boutin!! Take your chipboard button (Scenic Route) and swipe a wee bit of PVA glue, which is a woodworking glue, over the button and before it completely dries, which is quite awhile, lay a sheet of shiny transfer foil, colour side up, over top and rub! Easy peasy, it just attaches itself to the glue! I opted for a distressed look, which is why the foil is not completely covering the button. Loved this class!

This is Vicki working hard, explaining the techniques....

My sister in law Debbie and Allison Cope, of So Sketchy, who was helping Vicki with her class....

Anyway, hop on over to Little Paper Shop blog and see the prizes that you can win and lots of excitement being as it is One Year Old now!! Happy Birthday Little Paper Shop!!! YAY!!

Butterflies and Pearls.....

This is Day 2 of the sneak peaks for Little Paper Shop's releases on Tuesday!

This set is called Butterflies and is such a pretty little set with so many possibilities! If you check out the Little Paper Shop blog you can find a way to perhaps WIN this set!! YAY!! And don't forget to check around to all the Design Team's blogs to see how they used it.....the links are on my side post!

I have to say when I saw this monochromatic layout on Lisa Johnson's blog, I thought of this Butterfly set immediately, so that is the layout I semi-used...... thanks Lisa!

I stamped the Butterflies three times on my white cardstock in the layout I wanted, and then three times again on scrap cardstock.

I cut out the scrap cardstock butterfly wings, separately, and then took a large glue dot, rolled it between my fingers and attached it to the underside of each wing, right on the inner edge of the wing and attached it to the butterflies on my layout.

I added Frosted Lace Stickles to the edge of each wing and then added Kaiser pearls in the center of the butterflies for little bodies, because butterflies need bodies.......me too......

Oh my WORD, I have to tell you about YESTERDAY!! I went to Scrapfest yesterday, in Kitchener, Ontario with my SIL Deb and her friends Pat and Nancy (**waving hi to the stamping fanatics!!!**) and I was quite excited because one of my local scrap stores were going to be there, The Paper Pickle, and it's always fun to see people you know at these things!!

You have to know, I don't live in an area where there are many stamping people as crazy about stamping as my daughter and I.....so it was so fun to travel with these ladies and to mingle with other (more nutty) stampers!!

So after our freakingly amazing class with Vicki Boutin in the morning (more about that tomorrow), we went off to the stamping market to BUY!!!

Well, I didn't realize it, until the morning we left, but the Stamping Bella herself, Emily, was going to be at MY (I say my....) Paper Pickle for the afternoon!!!

I wanted a picture desperately, so I kind of snuck up beside her and wanted Deb to take the picture before Emily knew I was there.....you know.....in and out kind of thing.....no fuss no muss!! but she turned around and caught me and was still so gracious to let me have a picture of the two of us together.

( I was kind of crouching down and I actually think my head was kind of in her armpit, so I imagine she wondered what the heck was going on behind her, and let's get this silly lady her picture already!!) I look scared to death......mostly embarrassed at getting caught!!
which is why I am NOT showing the picture..... AND Linda Heavens, (bessieheav) one of the Bellarific Babes herself!!! was there at the Pickle booth with Miss Emily! oh my WORD, I was starstruck all day!!

Anyway, it was a blast and I spent WAY too much money..... Wait a minute.....It is not possible to spend too much money at a stamp show now, is it??!

Introducing {Forest Critters}!

ETA: I have just been informed that the set is called {Forest Critters} and not {Forest Friends} so I have changed it on the blog........fired for sure......lol!

It's time for
Little Paper Shop to release some new stamp sets!! YAY! These sets will be available on Tuesday April 21st so stay tuned to see all the sneak peeks!

This peek is all about nature and is called {Forest Critters}, a super sweet set consisting of trees and little animals and toadstools!

I went paper piece crazy today and paper pieced the trees and the owl and I tried to leave the little squirrel all alone, except that I couldn't and I had to add some fun fluff to his tail.

I stamped the owl onto some Crate Paper dp and then stamped him again and cut out his tummy and his head and popped them up. Using my copics, I did a bit of shading onto the dp, around his wings and also added some white gel pen to highlight his eyes.

The sentiment is from the set {Flyin' By}, an earlier release. The trees were stamped on some scrap paper that I had, so I'm sorry I don't know the name of it.

I still had my K & Company Wild Saffron paper out, so I used that for the background paper and that was adhered to Papertrey Ink spring moss cardstock.

You can hardly even see it, (should have used a different piece, dang it) but there is a cross piece behind the main image. I used a Martha Stewart punch (from Walmart) on the bottom of that and then added two glass gems from K & Company to the side.

Make sure you take a toot over to the other girls blogs (on my side panel) to check out their designs with this set and also to Jessica Rone our guest designer for April, May and June!! Isn't she a busy girl??!! Aren't we lucky??!!

And check out the Little Paper Shop blog for possible prizes to be won!!

A quick Damask!

This afternoon, I made what should have been a quick card, while I was watching my my grandkids. Stamp ....then play......then stamp......then play.....then cut......then play.......

I bought my girlfriend a dozen peach roses because she just had her gall bladder out, and what could make a girl feel better than ROSES!!

So I wanted to make a card that kind of matched, so I used Papertrey Ink's Melon Berry and New Leaf, along with the Damask stamp set and Mega Mixed Messages. I stamped it all onto Vintage Cream cardstock and then roughed up the edges a bit and adhered it to a Vintage Cream background.

I didn't know at first but I kind of like it and now I have to suck it up and give it away! I am terrible at giving away my cards. I have a hairdresser who sells them for me and I hardly ever take her down any because I don't like to part with them...... ugh.....how silly!

I am so excited!! I am going to Scrapfest this weekend with my sister-in-law (who doesn't even have a blog and she makes the most gorgeous cards and I think she reads this sometimes.....so the natural thing to do would be to make fun of her........but I think I will wait until after Scrapfest so I can still get a ride.....) and I am taking this class with Vicki Boutin!!

Terribly thrilled about it and I will let you know how it goes.......will I crash and burn or will I come back knowing EVERYTHING about masking and resisting and more.......or will I learn everything there is possibly to know about masking and resisting and more .......and then forget it all before I get home.....(now that's a possibility!!)

It's a Wonderfully "DIRTY" DAY!!

Can you BELIEVE IT!!!??!! I'm a DIRTY GIRL!!!!!!!!!!

Oh my goodness!!! Jenn Balcer from Splitcoaststampers e-mailed me a couple of months ago. She wanted to talk to me and I honestly thought I had screwed up something on the whole SCS site!! She said to give her a call when it was convenient....no time like the present, so I called her....

She asked if I would like to join the Splitcoaststampers Design Team, known as The "Dirty" Dozen!!

When I hung up I screamed at the top of my lungs!!! and then I thought I was going to throw up, and then I
tried to explain it to hubby (who had raced in thinking I was dying....), but he is a typical man and said that anything that had to do with me getting "dirty" sounded great to him and he winked. MEN!!

Anyway, I am so excited I can hardly stand it and I have been just busting to tell someone and now YAY!! I can let it out!! Wahoo!! Oh my goodness, the girls on this Design Team, past and present, are fabulous and so fun and I just hope I can keep up!! I really can't even see what Jenn saw in me but I guess there was something, because here I am, hands shaking as I type this post!

So, if you are a member of the Fan Club, I would love it if you would stop by the gallery and say hello!! It will be so fun to get to know all of you! If you are not a member of the Fan Club, you can stop by and say hello here, on my blog! You really should consider joining.....just follow the link to see all of the great benefits to becoming a Fan Club Member!!

And also a big welcome to Heather Pulvirenti who is joining with me this month!! You can see her blog here and her gallery here!! She is awesome and funny and freaking out.....just like ME!!!

I was allowed to give a little sneak peak of one of my projects so here it is.....

There is also an announcement from The Dirty Girls that Cindy Motherway wrote up for all of us to use if we chose to, and since my brain has been mush the last couple of days I gladly copied and pasted!!

"The Dirty Girls have each volunteered to send one of their gallery projects to a Fan Club Member! So that means there will be 12 Dirty cards stimulating the US Postal Service Sales each month and ending up in the hands of a Fan Club Member! Each Dirty girl has chosen one specific project to give away. The good news is all you have to do is leave a comment on that project to be randomly chosen! The bad news is you won't know which project it is so go with your gut (or maybe your favorite project) leave a comment or two or ten and it could be yours! Have fun! Good Luck! Hope its YOUR mailbox filled with Dirt! You have two weeks to comment from the day the gallery is revealed."

And the gallery was revealed Tuesday night (last night) at midnight, (my first reveal!!) so head on over and see all the wonderful creations!!

Madelynn's Twinkling Tuesday sketch!

Today is Madelynn's Twinkling Tuesday challenge again and Madelynn is back! YAY!

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE all the guest designers, but it is nice to have Madelynn back with her sketches! It's like going away on vacation - FUN and restful mostly but always nice to come home.....

Anyway, here is my card, which I had a heck of a lot of concern over, but when I threw up my hands and said "I give up, I'm DONE!", the card went flying and landed sideways and I looked and said "EUREKA!! (lot of hollering lately in the scraproom) I'm going to turn the sketch sideways!" and it all fell together - kind of literally lol!

I used K & Company Wild Saffron paper with Papertrey Ink Summer Sunrise, Spring Moss and Dark Chocolate cardstock and ribbon!

The cute little bird is from Little Paper Shop's stamp set called "{Flyin' By}". I added a Hero Art's gem's to their eyes and large eyelets along the bottom.

Off to Math class again with Holly. She has been sick two weeks in a row so we can't miss this week!

13 Apr 2009

Happy Birthday Little Paper Shop!!

YES!! Little Paper Shop is one year old and all month we are celebrating with challenges and prizes and give-aways!

AND we have a fabulous guest designer for April, May and June ----- JESSICA RONE!!!! If you have been following her blog, and I know you have, you will have already seen some of her beautiful work with the Little Paper shop stamps and digital images!

So let's get started!!

This week your challenge is to create your card using the above colours, and leave a link on the Little Paper Shop blog. Like I said - PRIZES!! So you will win your choice of three digi images from Little Paper Shop if your number is drawn from Random.org!

Well, personally, I find colour challenges kind of hard, and since I don't have any of those Stamping UP colours, I substituted as best as I possible could.....honest......!

I used Basic Grey Eva papers for the paper piecing on the "Still Hot Granny" dress and then coloured the rest of the images with copics. Don't you just LUV Gramps??!! I love how he can go with Granny so well!!

My colours are Papertrey Ink's Plum Pudding and Spring Moss along with the Plum Pudding ribbon.

I did use my version of So Saffron......if you look reeeaaaaallly close at his mug of beer, the tie and his belt......that is my "So Saffron"!

Hope you like it and don't forget to use the code LPSC11 if you upload to Splitcoast Stampers of Papercraft Planet!

Oh my goodness, our Easter dinner was delicious last night and everything turned out wonderfully!! Lots of screaming kids!!...... fun reasons and sad reasons..... and lots of fun......Don't families just kill ya?!!

We are off to another Easter celebration, this time to my mom's house for brunch.....yummy and all I have to do is bring the eggs!! yay!! Aren't mom's the best??!!

LPS Monday......late

is DELAYED for me anyway.........too much ham and turkey yesterday lol!

I'll be posting something later on.......
