Twinkling Mouseketeers!

Well, good morning and welcome to another Madelynn's Twinkling Tuesday challenge!!

The challenge today is an inspiration challenge and we would love for you to join us by making a card based on today's inspiration (which you will LUV!!) and uploading it to Splitcoaststampers or Papercraft Planet with the keyword MTTSC16!

I have a teeny romantic story to tell you at the end of this post about the card I made. Just to warn you ..... LOL!!

Here is our FUN inspiration this week!! Mickey and Minnie!! What better way to spend an evening than making cards with this inspiration!!





And here is my card based on Mickey and Minnie!

I used the Papertrey Ink Vellum on the card because of her little vellum-y skirt and of course the red satin bow had to be here. I really wanted to use the Swiss Dot red ribbon but then there were way too many polka dots!!




Everything product is from Papertrey Ink, from the stamp set, Heart Prints, to the Pure Poppy cardstock!

Okay, onto my teeny romantic story......

My husband actually seemed interested in this weeks challenge when he saw Mickey and Minnie Mouse on the computer.

He asked what I was doing and I told him that I needed to make a card with Mickey and Minnie as my inspiration. I actually ventured into the unknown area of asking hubby what he thought I should do.

He surprised me by being interested and asking me this question. "Okay, how long do you think Mickey and Minnie have been in love?"

I told him forever.

"Right, and they have always been best friends haven't they, so why don't you go that way with your card?"

Needless to say, I was very surprised at that, and could only nod....I think I was getting a little choked up!! I mean, he actually understood the inspiration, and he had such a brilliant idea...

So I raced downstairs and made my card, bursting full of love for my husband who obviously is so very supportive of my hobby!!

When I was finished, I ran upstairs and proudly showed him the romantic card I had made.

He tilted his head to one side and with a slight puzzled look he asked, "but where are Mickey and Minnie??"

BWAAAAHAAAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Okay, let's hear the collective ahhhhhh groan.......I know he'll never "get" it and I am really okay with that but for a second there was a glimmer.......

Great Things from Little Paper Shop!

Today is Little Paper Shop Monday and that means another challenge!! YAY!!

I don't have any Sahara Sand but I had Kraft AND Riding Hood Red AND Chocolate Chip - amazing! I always say "I don't think I have those colours" and then when I really dig, I can usually find them - silly me!!




I used two stamp sets today, Flourished Dove and Easter Blessings. I love the flourish in this set and it stamps so brilliantly and true!


I punched out some flowers from my EK Success flower punch in Riding Hood Red and ran them through the Swiss Dot Cuttlebug embossing folder, before adding the buttons which have a bit of twine tied in them.

The threading or treading water punch (any website I go to has a different name for it) was used on the bottom of the kraft panel.

I just had a brilliant idea to go to the Fiskars site and see what it is called and here you go - Threading Water Punch!! (I have never heard of anyone threading water but whatever)



I ran my Papertrey Ink Vintage Cream ink pad around the edges of the Chocolate Chip cardstock to give it some depth!

I love these colours together and was quite happy with how this turned out! Take a look around at the other girls creations! Some are on holidays, so they may not have made a card.......

Scripture Challenge Live

**Edited to add Sunday night: I just NOW noticed that I spelled the word "that" wrong......geeesh....lol!! I've been looking at it since yesterday afternoon!

Good morning....... I have been so busy with my family that I have not had a chance to even breathe let alone blog!

Do you ever feel a bit guilty over scrapping or blogging instead of spending more time with your family?

I guess I was feeling that way this week, so I thought I would spend a freaking ton of time with them, so that they would get sick of me and then I can get back to blogging again.....we'll see if it works or not lol!

Yesterday we had rabies shots in the morning - the cat, not me, and then my nieces' skating carnival in the afternoon, in which they did a duet - and they were spectacular!! The theme this year was "Disney On Ice" and they were Simba and ....... the other one......I can't even remember.....I am the WORST auntie......

So here is my "Live" word, front and back for my ATC Scripture this week.





I used leftover scraps (redundant) for these ATC's since they take such a small amount of supplies. On the front of the ATC is the Sentiment "Live Love Bloom" from Cornish Heritage Farms/ Kim Hughes Silhouette Blooms II.

I used the Cuttlebug Swiss Dot embossing folder on the top and then cut out a butterfly with the Cuttlebug butterfly combo folder which is the die cut of a butterfly and four 2 x 2 embossing folders - VERY cool combo mombo set!!

I am really starting to like my ATC holder that is filling up with these pretty little ATC's!! Take a look at Patter's ATC holder. She is the wonder who is leading the scripture challenge!

Friends.....

Oooooo, how I love the new Melon Berry from Papertrey Ink!! That is my card base today and the button is one of the new Melon Berry vintage buttons that Papertrey Ink is now handling.......how is a girl to save any money??!!

Today's Way to Use It Challenge was to find crafty ways to use your iron!! Wow, did I groan when I read that. Where the heck IS my iron??!!




Angelnorth, the guest hostess, gave some examples, and I chose to use the wax paper resist tutorial.

Instead of scrunching up the wax paper as in the tutorial, I saw this card, and decided I would use my Cuttlebug folder too!

I ran the wax paper through my Cuttlebug in the Stylized Flowers embossing folder. Then I followed the tutorial using my glossy cardstock and embossed waxed paper.

I sponged Papertrey Ink Spring Moss ink over the glossy paper and my Stylized Flowers started to show up beautifully!

Then I just cut it up to use on my card, which has a history of its own, because of a small blunder! When I was stamping the sentiment from Friends Centers, Cornish Heritage Farms, I stamped it upside down....crap. So that is why it is sort of the same layout as yesterday's blog hop card.....

Ah, well........Hope you have a good day and stay safe.........I really have GOT to clean my stamping room so I can get some projects started finished!!

Papertrey Blog Hop.... March!

It's time for the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop and I LOVE it! Everyone is invited and all you have to do to join in, is create something using at least one Papertrey Ink product and to follow the theme of the month!! This month it is backgrounds!!

I am not one for yakking it up on the forums, although I do like to pop in once in awhile to see what's shaking, so this is my way of keeping in touch with all those Papertrey Ink gals who love to create!




Everything on my card tonight is from Papertrey Ink, except for the Cuttlebug Swiss Dot folder and the scallop punch which is from Stamping Up!!

I used a variety of Papertrey Ink stamp sets for my background

• Guide Lines - the original set because I was not quick enough to grab up the Guide Lines Two
• Simply Stationery - the round circles and the image in the middle of the circles
• Beautiful Blooms - the four little black dot image
• Damask Designs - the Happy Anniversary sentiment

A Classic Sketch...........

First of all, so sorry about the yucky picture.

Ron is having a meeting in the kitchen where I always take my pictures so I am "stuck" in the computer room which is where I had to take this photograph, on a magazine, in front of my little drawers full of beads. Yes, I have beads in my office. Is that wrong I wonder.......

It is dark and rainy and gloomy here today so the picture is not very bright and those men just keep rambling on about John Deere and fenders.....ho hum.





This is for today's sketch challenge at Splitcoast Stampers.

I used Cornish Heritage Farms, Bel Air stamp with the sentiment being from "You're a Classic" ....perfect for the men in your lives!!

My card base is Papertrey Ink Dark Chocolate.

The background is the Cornish Heritage Farms License Plates stamped in Papertrey Ink Vintage Cream ink on Papertrey Ink Kraft Cardstock. Then I sprayed it with Tattered Angels Bronze Glimmer Mist to give it a bit of sparkle. Difficult to see in the picture but dang pretty IRL!

Like I said, it is rainy and gloomy here today so I think I will try to stay in my stamp room, if I can ever get out of this computer room, that is. Honestly, men babble on more than women and I really feel like I am trapped in here....

You are probably wondering why I don't just leave the computer room, say hello to the nice men and go on my merry way. It has to do with my still being in my housecoat and my hair looking like I worked on it all night.......if you get my drift......sometimes I need a talking to.....lol!!

Another Twinkling Sketch!!

Good morning and welcome to another Twinkling Tuesday Challenge!!

This week's sketch is brought to you by Cathy Cunningham's daughter Brittany!! Cathy is an avid follower of the Twinkling Tuesday blog and her daughter has drawn up this fun sketch for us to drool over!



And, as always, Bonnie the rule-bender (me!) has come along and sort of tweaked a bit - hope you don't mind Brittany!!

Here is my interpretation using a brand new Sugar Nellie stamp called "Nellie with Spring Flower" that I got from my local Scrapbook Store, The Paper Pickle!!



I hadn't been there in a couple of months - well probably since I decided to give up stamp/supply buying for Lent. We all know how that turned out......I crashed big time.....ouch.....

So I decided if I was going to crash, I would crash BIG and I signed up for the bus to Scrapfest in Kitchener at the same time! Oh my goodness.....Vicki Boutin is going to be there and tons of other wonderful designers! Are you going???

Little Paper Shop Monochromatic Challenge!

Today's Little Paper Shop Monday challenge is to make a monochromatic card. I'm not very good at them so this is as close as I could get !!

We would love for you to join us!! You certainly don't have to use an Little Paper Shop stamp, but if you've got them - why not use them!!?! Just use the keyword LPSC08 when you upload to Splitcoast Stampers or Papercraft Planet. Don't forget to check out Little Paper Shop's blog for the details and last weeks winner!!

I used the flourishes from Flourished Dove, to make a bit of a background. I stamped it in Vintage Cream ink onto Dark Chocolate cardstock and then ran my inkpad around the edges of the chocolate cardstock to give it some depth.



I stamped the sentiment, which is from Little Paper Shop's {A Dream}, in Dark Chocolate ink onto Kraft cardstock.

I added a bit of Sweet Blush cardstock, which was trimmed with the Stamping UP scalloped punch - LOVE it!! and adhered some sweet blush ribbon and a couple of buttons!

The added ribbon goes along with Sharon Johnson's Stamp Simply challenge, which is to add some snippets of leftover ribbon to your card and after I searched the floor, I found some!! yay!!

Unbelievably Casing Beate.....uh oh....

I can't believe the featured stamper is Beate! I mean I believe it, but I can't believe she has never been the featured stamper before today!

So now, the scary task of casing her.....

This is Beate's card I chose here and this is my case.



I changed the colours obviously, the butterfly is not a stamp but the Cuttlebug die, and I used a Tim Holtz grungeboard swirl as the background to the butterfly instead of Beate's chipboard (I think it's chipboard).

For the butterfly I did an emboss resiston Papertrey Ink Stampers Select white cardstock and then use the die to cut it out.

I stamped a flower from the Cornish Heritage Farms Silhouette Blooms II stamp set in versamark onto white cardstock and then clear embossed it. So now you have white cardstock with a shiny clear image. Then I took my Lavender Moon ink and sponged over top of the image and then wiped it all down to reveal the pretty flowers!!



The designer paper is Little Yellow Bicycle Baby Safari Collection and the sentiment is from Little Paper Shop "Make a Wish" stamp set!!

I used the Stamping Up ticket corner punch and the Petite Oval Nestabilities also!!

Scripture Challenge and George Clooney....

I am a little behind on my Scripture ATC's so after we got back yesterday, I played catch up!

My ATC holder is looking so pretty so I will take a picture of what it looks like so far and post it at some time in the future! I am so happy with it.




Today's word is Grace and my Scripture is one that goes straight to my heart. Honestly, without getting too gushy, I have received so many blessings in my life, from my wonderful husband to my three fabulous children who make me proud every day!



I have been blessed with a renewed life full of great health from the liver transplant I received October 25, 1995.

In the last 14 years, I have actually tried not to think of the family that had to make that difficult yet so completely unselfish decision to donate their loved one's organs.

It is only lately that I have begun to think about it, whether I wasn't emotionally ready or just refused to think about it, I don't know.



But to tell you the truth, a couple of weeks ago, the show ER was on and George Clooney was back as a guest star ( by the way I love George Clooney) and he was a transplant doctor......so I sat glued to the television through the whole thing and bawled like a little baby.....just actually remembering all that had transpired.....all right enough.....

My next Scripture word is Listen and I used the Spellbinders Crosses die to cut the cross out and then left it on and sponged it with Papertrey Ink Aquamist ink to make the little decorations.

The rubons are Jenni Bowlin kindergarten Alpha. I used my Sakura gelly roll pen to trace around the word "listen" and some gorgeous Champagne pearls from Ellen Hutson for a bit of decoration.

Good bye.....

Hubby and I are going away for a couple of days for recharging, we'll see if it works lol!!.....should be back on Saturday.....honestly, I don't know how I am going to get along without my stamp room......it is so dang addictive.....don't you think??

Hot Mama and Baby Stories!

Another great sketch challenge on Splitcoast Stampers today! Of course when I looked a bit closer, I see that maybe there was supposed to be different papers to be used, but the basic outline is still the same.

I don't think I am known for sticking to the absolute rules, although I am not a rebel, either. That is funny lol!! I am definitely not a rebel.

Although I did get into the green beer last night, and I may have babbled away somewhere online.......

I also took the chance to make this card for the Central Theme for the Splitcoast Fan Club. The link only works if you are a Fan Club Member, but you should look into joining!! They have some fabulous and fun challenges every month!

The theme this month is TV dinners and I made my card based on the television show Baby Stories! Marcie and I used to watch it all the time when my she was pregnant and we would cry when the baby was born....... I am sure I was crying because it was such a happy time- she was probably crying because she was scared to death!! lol!!




Anyway, here it my HOT card! This image is from Unity Stamps and what pregnant mommy wouldn't want to be told she is one HOT mama!!

I stamped it in Brilliance black and then embossed it with Ranger Black embossing powder.

The designer paper is by Papertrey Ink as well as the True Black cardstock. The orange piece that is punched with the threading water punch, is from the Basic Grey Marrakesh 6 x 6 paper pad.

I added a big, bold flower with a Karen Foster sparkle brad in the middle to finish it off!

Twinkling Tuesday and a Hijack.............

Yes, I have kind of personally hijacked the colour challenge for today's Twinkling Tuesday challenge.

I don't have those exact colours and that is not so bad, but I did add another colour, as you can see. I'm going to blame my SEI designer paper because it had pink in it so I felt I had to add it.

And besides (lots of excuses!) I was using my new Shady Tree image, Artsy Blooms and I had to colour it some sort of colour! Truth is, colour challenges and I sometimes have a spat, but I won today.




Actually I did take a picture of this card horizontally too, and it really didn't look so bad that way either - the sentiment "bloom" looked better, but then the flower was sideways.

I have decided that I need to use up stuff that I have received or bought but never use, so I dug out my white Glittered letter thickers and adhered them to my cardstock and then sprayed them with Tattered Angels Honeydew Mist and Vintage Pink glimmer mist. What a sparkle! and I get to feel what it is like to actually use my products .....and it feels good!!

I punched the edge with the Martha Stewart punch that I got from Wal-Mart- which didn't work all that well at first. I think you have to start those babies with some plain old computer paper and then work your way up to thick cardstock. I don't think it will be the first punch I grab next time!

I coloured the image with copics and then trimmed around it to pop it up onto the card. It was really too bright so I sprayed it with the glimmer mists also. I used the honeydew mist on the leaves and stem and the vintage Pink onto the flower petals. It didn't tone it down but it actually brought out the colour more and what a shimmer and shine!

I added some ribbon and some Hero Arts Gems to finish it off! Don't forget to head over to the Twinkling Tuesday blog and then off to the other designers challenges!! They will probably have all played by the rules and that's a good thing !!

Little Paper Shop's second release this month, Blessings, is another beautiful stamp set that can be used on your cards to signify Easter, Baptism, Confirmation or even Sympathy.

Even though I don't usually use the colour purple I had a rememberance that it had a significance with religion, so I did some "Googling" and this is what I found for the colours purple and silver.



Just keep an open mind since it is off the internet and who knows what is real and what is not! - yes, sometimes I AM a doubting Thomas.

• In Egypt, purple signifies virtue.
• Purple is a sacred color in Tibet.
• The Japanese see purple as a representation of wealth and prominence.
• Trust, faith and patience are signified with purple in the Ukraine.
• Ancient Romans used purple to signify royalty.
• In the church, Silver represents Gods redemption or His work.
  

So that being said, it would have been nice to have this stamp set when my mom became a minister. I could have made her up some pretty spectacular cards...... lol!

I stamped the cross in Plum Pudding Ink onto the vellum and then stamped the scrolly cross over top with Versamark.

I heat embossed the scrolly cross with silver embossing powder leaving a beautifully detailed and embossed cross, then I cut it out and popped it up onto an already stamped cross and sentiment, mounted it onto the rest of my card and finished it up with that gorgeous ribbon!

Bound by the Heart......

It is time for a new release from Little Paper Shop and I am happy to say I am on board again! yay!! Scroll down to the end of my post for a chance to win this set!!

Today's preview is called Bound by the Heart and it is a beautiful, thoughtful set by Julia, that can equally be used for Mother's Day or Father's Day and will be available on March 17th!

There are two cards today, so be sure to take a peek at the second card - it is part of our Little Paper Shop monthly challenge.

I wanted a soft muted look since I was using this gorgeous Scenic Route Sonoma designer paper. It is a little bright and I think it needed to be toned down a bit for my card, so Papertrey Ink's Vintage Cream and Spring Moss was the answer.

The bottom of the card is stamped in Spring Moss with the border from the Little Paper Shop Friends set. I then stamped the beautiful sentiment over top with Dark Chocolate Ink.

The word "Mother", "Father", "Mom" and "Dad" are separate stamps and therefore can be stamped with a different coloured ink!! which is what I did with the Berry Sorbet ink.

I ran some red-line tape down the back of the ribbon and adhered it to the seam that separated the designer paper and the sentiment piece.

The button treatment is actually 3 layers - a cream coloured button, topped by a flowered pink and cream button, topped again by a coffee coloured adhesive pearl.

I punched some "boughs" from the Martha Stewart punch in Dark Chocolate cardstock and tucked them in behind the button.

My next card is for our monthly challenge at Little Paper Shop and this month our hostess Mel has challenged us to "Stitch it Up!", that is either sew, stitch, or faux-sew!

I love sewing, but I chose to fake it by using the Stamping Up! Top Note die cute, which has some built in stitching yay!!



I used Little Paper Shop's new set debuting on the 17th, Bound by the Heart, and chose to use the "Dad" stamp with the sentiment. A few buttons, sewed on I might add, oh never mind, it's just twine.....what was I thinking??! It's faux sewing then. Yeh, that's it.

Inspiration Challenge and Fitz and Floyd!

Today's Inspiration Challenge is to be inspired by this site - Fitz and Floyd! Good grief....I will probably be inspired to buy stuff - I love all their pretty little things.....*bigbigbigbigbigsigh*

I chose to be inspired by these gorgeous little bunnies! Aren't they adorable!!?

I used one of Little Paper Shop's digi images called "Bunny".



All of the designer paper I used is from Crate Paper Blue Hill Collection and I just love it!! Can you see the resemblance to my blog banner?? That was the inspiration I gave Beth for my banner - and it turned out so wonderfully - inspirations all around!!

I printed off the Bunny four different times, once on each different piece of designer paper.

I have an OLD stamp that is a zig zag, so I stamped it onto each designer egg and then cut out various strips of it and paper pieced it back together - kind of like Humpty Dumpty - but with a better ending.... lol!

I coloured Bunny with my copics and then added "fur" by drawing my brown marker onto a small scrap of towel and then blotting it onto the image - then it makes it kind of sweet looking - maybe with more practise I can make it more "sweet" than "looking"!

I saw Marianne Walker do that here, so I thought I would give it a shot!

I glitzed up some Prima flowers with Frosted Lace stickles and added them to the image. Then I glued some buttons onto the middle of the flowers and added Kaiser self-adhesive pearls on top of the buttons - lots of pretty little layers!

I stamped the Mixed Messages sentiment in new Melon Berry ink - too dang pretty of an ink!!

Limited Supplies......not really..

Yes, I blew those Limited Supplies Challenge rules right out of the water which were no patterned paper and no more than 4 layers.

I did succeed to put a bug on the card - that was a stipulation today...... I always forget that the whole point of this challenge is limited supplies.



Ah well, I made a very busy card with a whole bunch of supplies but I should have repeated the mantra over and over again......less is more, less is more, less is more, less is more.

I used Papertrey Ink Ocean Tides for my card base and My Mind's Eye Bloom & Grow for my designer paper.

The orange dotted paper is Pink Paislee Sweet Cakes collection, but it matched up with what I needed so I scooped it out of my paper bin.

The Lockhart Stamp Company Plaid butterfly stamp was stamped in Memento ink and coloured with copics and the Spring Flowers sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's Tags for Spring stamp set!

I finished it off with some buttons and gems.....

Ways to Use Green!

I took the Ways to Use It challenge literally, like it said, and used green on my creation.

You could have actually recycled or reused stuff and put it on your card but I settled for using the colour green, unless you count using supplies that you never use and you SHOULD use, yep okay, I did that too....... lol!



I used Jen del Muro's sketch this week, because it is a cute sketch and because I haven't used any of her sketches since I was guest designer back in August (checkitoutcheckitoutcheckitoutsubliminalmessaging) I think I was scared off of sketches for awhile after that pressure lol!! But it was totally fun and such a great experience to be in amongst the "greats" and I don't say that lightly. Those ladies are absolutely amazing!!

Back to the card. I used Cosmo Cricket Cogsmo designer paper throughout the whole card, except for the card base which is Papertrey Ink Stampers Select white. I LOVE it for card bases because it is sooooooo sturdy!!

I stamped the Cornish Heritage Farms Scroll scrapblock in Papertrey Ink Spring Moss on the green paper of the Cosmo Cricket paper and adhered it to the card base.

The image and sentiment are from Cornish Heritage Farms and they are two of Kim Hughes sweet little ol' stamps from the set Little Guy!

I coloured it with copics and outline the image and sentiment is Sakura glitter pen. I added some Stamping Bella crystal bon bons (too many I think, but then again can you ever have too many baubles??!! I think not.......)

The ribbon is from Making Memories and it really doesn't have any green in it. I just took my copic pen and coloured in some green in the circles sort of willy nilly here and there!

I ran the Fresh Snow pigment inkpad around the edge of the card just because it is sort of an interesting thing to do sometimes!

I also added, as you can see, a button and some twine, as so many are doing these days, so I am basically copying everyone is blogland - isn't that what makes the world go around - cheating and stealing?

Okay - I am just KIDDING!! and I don't copy everyone in blogland.....not everyone...... where am I going with this?......no where fast me thinks.......
