Sentimental Sundays!

Good Morning and it's time for another Sentimental Sundays post!

This week we are being sponsored by the Digi Doodle Shop and they are offering a $10 gift certificate!

Our challenge this week is to add flowers to your creation - how easy is that?! and don't forget the sentiment!

I decided to use this gorgeous image from Digi Doodle Shop called "Cone Flower and Vase" - I love Cornflowers!!

I printed off the image several days ahead so that the ink would be good and dry when I coloured with my copics. Even so, the ink did smear a bit - I may have to get different ink or use my dryer.

The patterned paper I used is Teresa Collins - Fabrications - a gorgeous paper pad full of beautifully textured papers.

I tied some ribbon through the card - Papertrey Ink Wisteria - love that gorgeous shade of purple! and the sentiment is also from Papertrey Ink ...

Thanks for coming around today!

Waltzingmouse Blog Party!!

Good day and welcome to the Waltzingmouse Blog Party for May! As stated earlier in this post, the Blog Party was rescheduled out of respect to Claire due to the passing of her mother.

You will be able to link up your card according to these times - and then everyone can see your beautiful creation!! This month our theme is FELT - love it and I chose a wise (lol!) and easy way to showcase that marvelous soft and cozy material!!

I stamped the jar image from Candy Jar Christmas and then the fun little candies image were stamped inside. I decided to colour them up as bubble gum with my copics without using Christmas colours - because after all - I can eat bubble gum any time of the year!! Smiley from millan.net

I cut out the image and popped it up onto my white heart embossed background which was in turn popped up onto a piece of Raspberry Fizz cardstock stamped with one of the backgrounders from Heirloom Patterns.

The sentiment is from an older set called Sweethearts and I am in love with this font!

I die cut some hearts from felt and added it to my image to portray my LOVE of pretty, yummy baubles!!

Why don't you join us for the Blog Party - Simply create something using Waltzingmouse Stamps and add some felt in an innovative way - or an easy way -like I did ;)

Once Upon a Time....Teapot Challenge

This week's card goes to Rebekah, a fellow teapotter's daughter and her story is at the end of this post....

I was inspired by this card by fellow Design Team member Julia Aston - always an inspiration and really also an enabler!!

I stamped the image and sentiments from Half-Pint Heroines in Memento Tuxedo Black and paper pieced the balloon.

The little girl's head was then stamped - there are several different head images to work with in this set.

I stamped and hand cut the clouds and then ran them through the heart embossing folder to add some texture.

The inside of my card is where Julia's enabling comes in - that cute little Memory Box die is the culprit!

I love the Modern Landscape die on Julia's card so I had to get it myself to make sure it really is as cute as it looks - and it IS!!

So here is Rebekah's story and you can see how this card will hopefully make her birthday a little happier!

"Fellow Teapotter Mary lives with Lupus and RA. She struggles with unbearable pain and the ups and downs of her health issues. She has a difficult time coming to our teaparties on a regular basis but her heart is with us.

Mary is only 48 years old and in April, while walking down a hall way at work, her hip broke. She had been in an extreme pain leading up to that happening and just thought the pain was due to her medical condition.

But actually, she had been walking on a stress fracture for about 3 weeks and didn't even know it. Mary sat on the floor in the hallway at work in pain for an entire hour before someone discovered her and called the ambulance.

She immediately had hip surgery. Mary's husband was on a plane back from Detroit without cell service so he was pretty freaked out when he landed and took the call.

Now you know how mom's are! It's not about Mary, her Lupus, her RA or even her emergency surgery for her broken hip!

In Mary's eyes, it was all about her daughter Rebekah whose birthday party that week had to be cancelled. And to make matters worse, it was Spring break and Mary and her daughter had so many fun things planned!

But as so often happens, that's not what life brought. Rebekah spent Spring break in the hospital with her mom and didn't have her much anticipated birthday party with her friends.

Mary apologized to her for ruining all their plans to spend time together and Rebekah's reply was “Momma, you said we were going to spend time together this week. We ARE spending time together, it's all good!”"

So really, how sweet is that! So this card is for Rebekah.....

Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #98!

Good morning! Smiley from millan.netBlogger is being .....sooo.......slow.......this morning so I may make this short and sweet - frustrating!

Today is another Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge and wow!! was it a doozie - but it ended up coming together quite easily - go figure.....check out the sketch - it is a great challenge!

I decided to use my NEW Chicken Wire background stamp set from Waltzingmouse Stamps, along with L'il Buddies and the woodgrain background from Way Out West.

For those of you not familiar with clear stamps, they are nice and pliable so you can shape them the way you want (within reason). I rounded the sentiment to fit into the 1 1/2" punch that is combined with one of the little chicks! So Cute!

The back ground on kraft cardstock, is stamped using the woodgrain background in Kraft ink. I stamped the chicken wire in Harvest Gold ink onto Harvest Gold cardstock and then used my 1" punch for my squares and freehand cut the rectangles.

I rounded the corners with the Corner Chomper and then sewed around - a little bit zig zaggy and a little bit straight.......

Add a pretty button and some twine and you have a get well card ready to go!

Sending Teapot Hugs!

My card today is for the Tuesday Teapot Challenge. This week's challenge was to create an outdoors scene and since I just received my new The Cat's Pajamas stamps I decided to use them! yay!

I inked up Aye, Aye Captain, and stamped the image onto Copic Xpress cardstock. I stamped the boat only again, and coloured and cut out the oar and set it aside.

I coloured the image and added some "waves" using the TCP Apron CutUp die.  I stamped the Blueberry Sky cardstock first with the WMS polkadot background stamp - to add a bit of interest.

The oar was placed in between the waves and adhered.  The Heart Trio Cut-Up was die cut from Pure Poppy cardstock and then I popped up the middle heart!

Inside I added some clouds die cut with the Cloud Border CutUps- I love it!

Thanks for coming around!

Happy Mother's Day! and a WMS sketch...

Well, I don't have a Mother's Day card but I do have the 97th weekly Waltzingmouse Sketch for you!

A day late and better than never.....

Here is this week's sketch:

And here is my interpretation.....which gave me fits for no reason - I am quite happy with the outcome.....something that is not centered just makes me dizzy!!

A little sewing and some embellishments - I love that star die from My Favorite Things! - and it is done!

Why don't you join us for our sketch this week!

Teapot Tuesday! Best Wishes

Yesterday was Teapot Tuesday!! yay! The idea is to make a card based on our challenge - (which isn't really very difficult at all!) and then send it on to the destination for the week! We offer encouragement and blessings to those who need it!

Anyone can join us in this challenge. It's not by invitation only, it's an" open to the public" Splitcoaststampers Challenge. You also do not have to write a story, just be inspired by the teapot and if you choose, you can be inspired by the challenge story and our destination!

So this week's card is going (has already been mailed) to newlyweds Alan and Ellen - see their story here

We had to use red, green and white in our wedding creation - all I could think of was Christmas - so I whipped out the Big Blooms - Poinsettias from Waltzingmouse Stamps and coloured myself up a bright red flower!!

The poinsettia itself is absolutely all one layer - the colouring makes it look like there are layers and layers of petals - isn't wonderful what shading can do??!

The middle of the poinsettia, the gold and green was stamped, coloured, cut out and adhered onto the poinsettia because I goofed in the middle - but it is fine anyway - love being able to cover up the oopsies!!

The background is the gorgeous die from Cheery Lynn Designs - French Lattice. I cut it our in white cardstock and layered over more white cardstock - love the look!

I hope you can join in this fabulous challenge!!

Sending Hugs...WMS Challenge

Wahoo! The Waltzingmouse Stamps Sketch Challenge is on the books this week!

I am delighted, DELIGHTED I say, Smiley from millan.netto tell you that I am once again on the Waltzingmouse Stamps Design Team!! I am super stoked and so very happy to say the least!

I took a little break to resolve some silly health issues and to get my mojo flowing (in my head at least)!

Kelly Schirmer created our fun sketch this week - and here is my result!

I inked up "Say it Loud" and put together the sentiment that I needed and then combined it with October Afternoon papers!

I have to tell you that this is a fun sketch and it came together rather quickly once I got started, but was I ever intimidated at first when I saw it lol!

It just shows that we all suffer from itty bitty bits of insecurity when it comes to our crafty-ness!Smiley from millan.net

Sentimental Sundays Challenge!

Good Sunday Morning and what a beautiful morning it is in Southern Ontario! The sun is shining and the birds are tweeting Smiley from millan.netand it is just going to be a gorgeous day - which probably involves some golf time yay!

Of course it is time for another Sentimental Sunday Challenge - our challenge is such an easy one that you should really accept it!  You make a card and make sure you add a sentiment! Easy!

This week's theme is For a Special Woman - easy - a Mother's Day card!

Our sponsors are Di's Digi Downloads - $10 gift certificate and our very own sister here at Sentimental Sundays has opened up an online store called Crafty City and we are so excited to support her through her new journey as an entrepreneur!!  She has currently extended her FREE SHIPPING on orders $25 or more, to US residence til May 12, 2012.

My image today is from Di's Digi Downloads and is called For a Special Someone - perfect for today's challenge!

I printed off the image and coloured it with my copic markers. I always let my image sit for a day or two (or you can heat dry) so there is less chance of the ink smearing when you colour.

I die cut the image and the sentiment with MFT Die-namics Circle STAX and  used Papertrey Ink's Autumn Rose grosgrain ribbon for my embellishment along with some bling from Want 2 Scrap - love their different sizes of gems!

I know you are making Mother's Day cards this week - so why don't you hook up with our challenge!!

See you next week!

Getting Sketchy with MFTWSC!!

Hi everyone! It's Wednesday and you know what that means - I go golfing yay!!! AND it's time to get sketchy at My Favorite Things

This week's sketch - #70!! is another corker - love it and it goes so nicely with Big Greetings that I couldn't resist!

I die cut the circles with the Circles STAX Die-namics and stamped the sentiment. I s-l-o-w-l-y sewed around the edge of the circle for a little added interest.

And just look at that gorgeous Die-namics Royal Rose - just beautiful! I combined it with the Die-namics Leafy Flourish which I think should be on every card - just sayin'... ;)

The inside is decorated with the Die-namics Fishtail Flags STAX - a personal favorite!

Thanks for hanging around with me this week!! Love having you!

I inked up the new Goldfish Girl and decided to make her the golden colours of the fish!  I paper pieced her and shaded the patterned paper pieces with a shadow using the correct colour of copic marker.

Using the new Die-namics Large Royal Rose I cut some My Favorite Felt Jellybean Green and rolled up my rose - this is so easy to do!! I always put a dab of hot glue half way through the roll up just to keep it from shifting - although with felt this is hardly ever a big deal.  Then I use hot glue at the end of the roll up just to give it an extra hold!

I also cut a flower from the Die-namics Upsy-Daisy Flower Builder  from My Favorite Felt Sour Apple and then two of the blooms from the Die-namics Botanical Beauty from pieces of cork.  Then I adhered them altogether with some hot glue!

The new Squiggle Die-namics comes in handy for an edging - I love the wavy look - and the squiggle!!

Don't forget to stop on by Kim's blog for a complete list of all the designers participating in the MFT Pep Rally.

Here are the Die-namics that I used today!
