AmyR Sketch

Every Friday AmyR has a sketch on her blog for you to try and I had never tried it, although every week I print it off thinking "Maybe this week, I will get around to it" and I never get around to it -- so this week I got a roundtuit!!

You can check out the post about her sketch here!

And I seem to be in a creating mood lately, so I thought GO FOR IT LUCKY!!

I have some Magnolia stamps that haven't been inked up so I thought I would use the baby Tilda for this sketch! She seems to fit in with the proportions.

I basically just used Basic Grey Blush paper and followed the sketch.

There.

ROFL!!

Really, there is not much too it. The most grinding part for me is to find the right paper! I pull out paper and put back paper and cut up paper and get out more paper and, well, you get the drift!!

Today, I got out my Basic Grey paper and said "THIS is the paper" and it was!!

I used my copics to colour the little baby in and then my copic glitter pen which makes the coolest glitter possible - really!! to do her wings. I did a bit of paper piercing at the top right hand and added some Heidi Swapp Icee small flower jewels.

Edited to add: I can't believe that I forgot to mention my new Cuttlebug Swiss dot embossing folder that I used on the circle!! (this is me, smacking myself on the head!!)

She is pretty darn cute, if I do say so myself!!

Paint This Challenge!

Today's Limited Supply Challenge was to use the following:

Stamps:

one flower stamp (sentiment optional)
No designer paper
No Cuttlebug
No background stamps
Any embellishments
No Rub-ons ... except for sentiments

I may have stretched it a little by using the leaf stamp but I forgot until it was too late!

On Heather Nichols blog, Pine is Here, she had a post about making old things new again.....She had brought out her Twinkling H2O paints and an old stamp set and made a beautiful creation. Check it out here!!

So, since I do not usually try NEW things, I decided to try an OLD thing....

I dusted off my Stargazer watercolors, a set of sparkly, twinkly paints that cost me $31.25 (the price is still on it!) and proceeded to wet them up.

I also used Papertrey Ink's Beautiful Blooms but I selected a different flower.

The colours I used were meteor copper for the flower, nebula green for the leaves and anteres orange for the middle of the flower.

Okay, I don't know about you but I really wonder if those are real words or not.....I guess meteor is......I had to write them down because I would NEVER remember them when I went to post!!

I stamped them on photo paper so I would get a REALLY good shine, and you can see by the photo that, oh yeh, I got shine!!

When I had it all stamped, I trimmed it down so I could get the look I wanted. Then I layered it on some DCWV mat stack paper, tied an Offray ribbon around it and stamped my sentiment.

The sentiment is also a Papertrey Ink stamp from the Faux Ribbon stamp set.

So hopefully this will help someone get well soon!!

Magnolia is in the Howwwse!!

I received my new Magnolia stamps yesterday!! Wahoo! Great mail day yesterday!

I inked her up on some Papertrey Ink white cardstock and then again on Papertrey Ink Everyday Blessings patterned paper. I paper pieced her dress, hat and hair ribbons and coloured in with copics.

Her cute little wings were done with the copic spica glitter pen which supposedly has crushed pieces of glass in the ink so that it is sooooo schparkly!!

I used the clear lacquer on her shoes (which I screwed up when I touched them!!! arggghhh!) and liquid pearl for the lace on her sweet little dress.

I adhered the whole image onto bazill black cardstock and then glued that to Ginger Blossoms patterned dotty paper.

I added a May Arts ribbon and a BIG BUTTON from MM 5th avenue collection!! That is a cute box of paper flowers and embossed felt flowers and big, little and teeny tiny buttons!!

The sentiment is from My Favorite Things Essential Sentiments, a fantastic set of stamps with soooo many cool sayings, along with some that are just things you need to say everyday!!

Off to the stamp room, hubby is fishing....again.....

I love fish, I really do, but I am thinking of telling him some sort of mercury poisoning story, so we can just have a good ol' piece of beef, or chicken, or turkey, or lamb or.....

Get comfy and rest!!

I bought some stamps from Ellen Hutson's store last week and what can I say.....the service was absolutely fabulous and the shipping just the same!!

I ordered these cute little stamps on Wednesday and they were at my destination on Friday!! How great is that!!?

This card is made with these cutie-patootie Karen Lockhart stamps from Ellen's store!

I am always so inspired by Michelle Wooderson's creations and this was no different......

Now, Michelle, genious that she is, made her own plaid paper in this post, while I chose to just use patterned paper!

As you can see I was soooooo inspired to pretty much case directly!!

But is this not a perfect card for all those ailing people out there! There is sooo much sickness going around and maybe this card will help a teeny tiny bit!!

I coloured the stamp with copics and the ribbon is from Stamping Up and it is called Night of Navy. The patterned paper was snitched from Marcie's stash so I don't know, but it is so cute and matches perfectly!!

Get Well Soon!!

It's In the Notes...!!

That is what today's Ways to use it Challenge is on SCS! Think up a song for inspiration and make a card from it! Cool, eh? You can use music-type stamps, be inspired by a song, a title, a phrase in a song...just see how music inspires you!

Well, I come up with the MOTHER song!! Not the mother of all songs......just the mother song!

You know the one - The Mother's Day song

M -is for the million things she gives me
O -means only that she's soft to hold
T -for the things she tries to teach me
H -is for her heart of purest gold
E -for her eyes with love light shining
R -means right and right she'll always be

Put them all together they spell Mottttthhhher, (I'm singing here)
A word that means the world to me.

I wanted to use the new Women of Life stamp set from Papertrey Ink so that is why I used THAT song!!

I stamped the stems from the stamp set first, in Spring Moss Palette Ink on Spring Moss cardstock, then the centers of the flowers in Aqua Mist.

I used my glue pen to colour over the Aqua Mist and then sprinkled green and blue glitter on top to make the centers so sweet and shhhparkly!!

I see a little bit o' glitter hanging on there......I just use a little paint brush to wipe it away after I am done......well after I am done posting.....

I tied the spring moss polka dot ribbon around and stamped Happy Birthday on the bottom and then took the MOM stamp and stamped that on top.

The set comes with all sorts of ladies "names" Aunt, Grandmother, Sister, Mom, Mother, in-law, Daughter. And then also Thank you, Happy Birthday and so much more!! Well you can see it for yourself here.

I like it and I love this stamp set and the Perfect Match line that they have going on!!

Sorry about that.....

I have to add a word verification to my blog.

Sorry about that.....getting a FEW small advertisments and CRAP......

I Care about Papertrey Ink....

yeh, okay that is a lame title.......

But I sure do like this Everyday Blessings stamp set by Papertrey Ink!

I used it again for this weeks sketch challenge over on Splitcoast Stampers.

I also used the patterned paper which is called Everyday Blessings too. AND I used the cardstock from Papertrey Ink AND I used the ink also. It was really a Papertrey Ink day!!

They have two fabulous colour lines right now called Aqua Mist and Spring Moss. Aqua Mist has been compared to soft sky and Spring Moss to certainly celery.

For this card I stamped the cross from the Everyday Blessings stamp set in the spring moss on Very Vanilla from Stamping Up and then I stamped the bible verse in aqua mist on top of the cross. Kind of a neat look I think!

I cut that out with my petite oval scalloped nestabilities and set it aside.

I used the sketch to layer my card by cutting up patterned paper from the Everyday Blessings patterned paper set. It has some beautiful paper that has very tiny print on it making it perfect for cards!!

I adhered the patterned paper to some spring moss cardstock and then tied the beautiful aqua mist swiss dot ribbon around the layers.

Then I added the scalloped image and I was done!

I have started to sell some of my cards (YAY ME!!) at our local hairdresser's shop - she is such a sweetie! She called and said she needs more sympathy cards, so this one is going in the batch for her!

This week's Colour Challenge!

This week's challenge was River Rock, Basic Black and Whisper White......

When I was reading this I was sooooo excited because I had just picked up my Stamping Up order from The Town Scrapper (Phebe had graciously let her shop be used as a drop-off point between Kraftin' Kimmie's mom (Nanadiana) and me) and I actually had the colours that were in the challenge!! Usually I am grabbing willie-nillie at something that sounds like the colour!!

Now this card is definitely not this yellow IRL! If you know the colour River Rock, you know it is more of a greyish-green not pukey yellow!! My Adobe is being pillish lately!!

I also received my Papertrey Ink set Everyday Blessings which is such a gorgeous stamp set. Very reverend and elegant...

The patterned paper is Ginger Blossoms which has River Rock and - I'm going to say Whisper White.

I stamped the image on the River Rock paper and mounted it on black and then mounted that whole thing on the Ginger Blossoms paper.

I added a couple of brads and some black ribbon and done!!

Back again with excuses!

Well, I finally got back here to post my card!

No excuses, because all I did was fall asleep on the couch after supper, and when I woke up my neck was stiff and I had drool happenin'.......then I continued in bed....

I did finish this card yesterday AFTER I got back from The Town Scrapper, who by-the-way has new stamps, had new stamps and is getting a new supply of new stamps in - oh my! and oh great!

They fly off the shelves as quick as they come in!!

I was soooo good yesterday but I can't say the same thing for Marcie!! She bought a new MFT set.......I can't tell you which one....you will have to go over and check!! I don't know if she has inked them up yet but she is NOT a hoarder like me!! haha!! she uses her stuff!

Marcie also has a great post on the auction that we went to on Saturday! She can explain it better and she has a little story about the "eff" word that was happenin' !!

All I can say if that women get VERY passionate about their scrapping purchases!! ROFL!! We ended up getting 12 sheets of beautiful SEI paper for about $300!! BUT - it is not as bad as it sounds!!

Okay, the card!! Of course this is from Stamping Bella - she has more than just Bella's believe it or not!!

This cute little girl was inspired by AmyR on her post here and it is a match to my previous post with the little boy. How sweet is she!

I have a thousand loads of laundry to do.....NO math class today - -so no reason why I can't do it - unless I get downstairs in THAT ROOM and forget about it *wink*.....

The weather is atrocious!! Buses are cancelled and it is snowing to beat the band! I don't know what that saying really means but it is snooowwwwing!

LUCKY ME!!

25 Feb 2008

A Boy and his Wagon!

A quick post this morning. I am off to The Town Scrapper!! YAY!!

I inked up my little guy and little gal yesterday and worked away at them. They are both from Stamping Bella and the sentiment comes with them!!

My inspiration came from this post on AmyR's blog......and WHAT a blog!! She does fabulous Bella's along with everything else!!

Bazill cardstock and Papertrey white cardstock was used. Also, my copics and some doodlebug glitter brads!! I love the glittah!!

This post is full of terrible grammar because I am in a hurry! Marcie is going to pick me up any second.

I will show you this little guy's sister later on AND fill you in on the deets of the auction I went to on Saturday!!

Funky Inspiration

Saturday's challenge on Splitcoast Stampers is an Inspiration Challenge, You can check today's challenge out here.

I chose to do some funky flowers and used some leftover Love, Elsie chipboard flowers that I had "hanging" around.

And yes, they were hanging - on my Clip-It storage system!

I keep forgetting to look through that thing even though it sits - sometimes in the way - right on top of my stamping area so I won't forget!!

Age takes care of a lot of things, as they say - memory being one of them!! LOL!

Just kind of a funky card with a pot of flowers! The pot is from My Favorite Things "Build a Bouquet" stamp set and I stamped it and stamped it again, cut it out and popped it up on the card.

Then I just added Love Elsie's chipboard flowers willy-nilly on the paper.

I brought it all together with the little teeny flower from the Build a Bouquet stamp set and added some stems with my copic marker.

The patterned paper is Basic Grey Lily Kate and the turquoise background is from Basic Grey Phoebe. Bsic Grey paper is so cool because you can interchange the paper from almost all of the paper packs!!

Well, I am heading over to a stamp auction today at Scrapbook Studio in Hyde Park! So cool!!

The idea is, that any money you have spent at Scrapbook Studio this past few months is worth the same amount of money at the auction. So if I had bought $200 worth of paper etc, then I have $200 to spend at the auction!

The articles they are auctioning are all the NEW stuff from CHA when they were there a couple of weeks ago!! So I get a chance to "buy" some new stuff before it is even available to the public!! How cool is that!!??

I think I should go early so I can spend more money so I have more money to bid!!

LUCKY ME!

22 Feb 2008

Send in the Clown....!!

I had such very happy mail today!!

I received my winnings from Kraftin' Kimmie!! I won a Whipper Snapper stamp called Clown Car during her celebration! Aren't I LUCKY!!

I had some reservations about it when I got it because there is so much colouring, but it is all worth it and it really wasn't so bad!!

I actually used the same colours that are on the top of the stamp for a guide.....so next time I may try something different but I guess the company SHOULD know best!! LOL!

It turned out so darn cute!! Nice and bright and suitable for anyone!!

The paper is from a piece I had years ago and just went through my stockpile (only a few pieces-few hundred -hahaha!) and dug this colourful sheet out.

It already had the design on the side so I cut it out so that the pattern was on the right. I added a few brads and some pokie-okie-dot ribbon from Offray.

The sentiment is from My Favorite Things dino-mite stamp set.

Freakin' cute!!

21 Feb 2008

A New Challenge!

I was over on Carol's blog Crazy for Crafting and I saw that Sketches {by Tamara} was offering up a sketch challenge.

I thought what the heck, I'll try it! There are no prizes or anything, it is just a sketch for you to try!

So here is my card......with a LOT of shadows! I must have taken it during the eclipse- yeh right...!! Did you see it! ??

It was pretty cool....the moon was kind of a so orangey funky misty sorta colour - I wonder if Stamping Up carries that?? ROFL!!

They do have so many pretty colours - did I tell you I ordered a BUNCH of paper from them?? Them being Kraftin' Kimmie! I went in on a share with DD Marcie - really, that is the way to do it! You can then split the colours -and the cost-- fabulous!

Back to the card!! The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's Spiral Bouquet stamp set. I love the combination of the big and little print! and it is such an elegant font!

The flourish is from Technique Tuesday's Flourishes, which I bought when I FIRST started stamping - one of my very first acrylic sets. However I must say, that if I had seen the flourishes over on Flourishes, I would have bought them first!! They are so beautiful!! (and cheaper-even better)

The paper on the top is from Basic Grey Perhaps and the paper on the bottom is a pretty little spring paper from Imaginisce called For Peep's Sake. It has a little bit of sparkle and shine!!

Of course, the ribbon is Offray! and the flowers are Queen & Co. acrylic flowers and then some brads and eyelets from somewhere?? - my stock pile!

Anyway, I am posting this in between making supper and looking after little Jake! He is here today!! YAY!!

He goes around saying "Rothie-othy-othy!!" and then Rosie comes running with her ball to play!! and Jake throws it (sort of) and Rothie, I mean Rosie, catches it again.....! It is sooooo funny!!

Jake finally has stopped trying to eat the ball before throwing it-which is totally great!

LUCKY, LUCKY ME!!!

With Sympathy.....

This card is for no family in particular, thank goodness, but you never know when you are going to need a sympathy card.

The image is from a box of seconds I bought off of Art Impressions for $40!! You get $100 worth of stamps and the only thing that was wrong was that the image on the wood maybe was brushed off or kind of crappy. I did have one stamp that the rubber was crooked, but I have a BIG star on that one so I know to twist it a little!! Here I am -- learning by messing up!!!

and the sentiment is from Printworks - don't they have the cutest font!!?

The patterned paper is from DCWV Old World Stack. It is a lovely textured paper and the pack is 8 x 8 paper with tons of beautiful old world - I call them wallpaper - designs!

Of course the ribbon is Offray that I buy at Walmart. They have lots of spools of ribbon in the sewing section that sell for about .59 - $1.59 and there is about 5 years on each one. I always buy the chocolate ribbon because I use it up sooooo fast!!

Of course the base of the card uses Papertrey Ink's white cardstock which is such a beautifully heavy paper. It only cost $6 for 40 sheets of 8-1/2 x 11 paper! So of course I loaded up this last stamp release.

And I bought their new coloured paper which, according to everyone who already HAS THEIR PAPER (ugh!), is just bee-yoo-ti-ful!!
Oh I can hardly wait!!

LUCKY ME!!

20 Feb 2008

Best Wishes....with BLING!!

When I was at The Paper Pickle awhile ago, I noticed this pretty stamp set that was included with note cards and some bling, all put together by Hero Arts! I'm telling you - this is a big stamp - sentiment included!!

So this is the stamp and the note card, which is a kraft colour (it always photographs a lot more yellow than it really is-drat!!) and I have added some bling-not the bling that was included-but bling nevertheless!

I was kind of disappointed in the stamp, because the image it stamps was very fuzzy. No matter what I did, or what ink I used, it was fuzzy!

So I got examining the rubber, and it was intentionally fuzzy! DUH! I supposed it is a distressed look but I didn't care for it, because you can see that it does not stamp a crisp image.

I felt that I had to colour over the birds with black pen and the sentiment also.

I traced the flowers and background leaves with my Sakura glitter pen and then added the green "Verve Visual" bling to the middle of the flowers and the three "blings" at the top of the card.

The patterned paper is from Basic Grey and I have done some faux stitching around that paper.

It is kind of pretty, but like I say I was so disappointed because I had such high hopes for this stamp!! *stamping foot poutingly*!!

Casing Michelle.....again.....

Michelle Wooderson had some fantastic cards on her blog yesterday - as usual -!!! LOL! You really need to go over and check out her blog - honestly flabberghastingly gorgeous creations!

Don't the "big guns" EVER flub up and make a crappy card?? Probably not, and that is why they ARE they big guns! LOL!

They were one layer cards and used the Beautiful Blooms acrylic stamp set by Papertrey Ink.

I own this stamp set, so technically there is absolutely no reason why I shouldn't try this card......but essentially......I can think of a million reasons....however.....

I threw my whole self into this (and that hurt LOL!) and attempted it, and not too shabby!!

I opted for a get well card as opposed to sympathy, but it could be used for various occasions.

The DP that I used was from SEI and I love it! I have used it on various cards these past couple of weeks.

Now I didn't do the embossing line along the bottom, only because I just looked again and saw it!! LOL!! It can still be done if I so desire......

I used Versamagic Tea Rose chalk ink, Versamagic Jumbo Java and the green is Versamagic tea leaves chalk ink also!!

The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's Papertray stamp set.

19 Feb 2008

My Celebrity Look Alikes!!!?

Hmmmmm.

I found this over on Betsy's Bit o' Heaven and I thought it would be fun!!

I would definitely agree that I look like Halle, Michelle, Angelina (although maybe not THAT picture!!LOL!) and Jennifer ---hahaha!!

But it is probably more like Liza.......now I am not sure why Donovan Bailey is there....but he is a Canadian (at least I think he is) so maybe that is why...!!

Edited to add: I forgot to tell you that Al Roker was also one of the celebrities, but I chose not to pick him.......ROTFL!!

If you want to try it click on the right bottom side where it says "want one too?" and then click on the left side of the page where it says collage!

Kind of fun!!

Math class for Holly today, so nothing too much got accomplished in the stamping department but I will be posting some things tomorrow!!

18 Feb 2008

Smashing and Lovin' it!!

No, not smashed ----smashing!!

I really enjoyed the smashing technique last week on Splitcoast Stampers, try a new technique challenge, so I borrowed Marcie's red alcohol ink and did up some more paper!

This time I used my black ink and her red ink and it turned out pretty cool!

I used it on this altered coaster (WHAT you say!!) Yes I did another altered item......unbelievable.....but I am kind of liking these coasters and since I have 100 of them I NEED to do something with them!!

I used up the rest of the French script background paper that I had made here, and attached it to my coaster.

Then I just cut part of my smashing paper and added it to the coaster. I covered the seam with a bright lime green polka dot Offray ribbon.

I added some frost lace stickles to a couple of Heidi Swapp white flowers and added it to the ribbon with a MM BIG heart brad!!

Kind of cute!! in a shabby chic sort of way!!
Speaking of smashing!!

---Did you see the Daytona 500 yesterday???!!!

Oh my goodness - our guy Ryan Newman, WON!!

It was such a good race near the end! Kind of a sleeper the whole way until the last 20 laps.....fabulous! We were (and kind of still are )- pumped!!!

Woohoo!!!

I'm in Love, I'm in Love, I'm in Love!!

Why do I feel like making a Valentine's card NOW!?

Because I got an order in from Cornish Heritage Farms this morning and this beautiful French Script background stamp was amongst the order!!

Once I had a look at it, I said oooooooOO! I luvitIluvitIluvit!!

I took some leftover My Mind's Eye polka dot paper that I had used in the Featured Stamper challenge on Splitcoast Stampers, and stamped the French Script in Dew Drop Brilliance White right on top of the polka dots.

It is such a fine print stamp and it came out beautifully! So I embossed it with white Whispers embossing powder and I loved the look!!

I cut it to show some of the scrolling on the Mind's Eye paper and to fit onto my white base of Papertrey Ink white cardstock.

I cut a piece of white cardstock, scalloped it with my corner rounder and then used the crop-a-dile to make some embossed dots. I added some pink lace to the edge of that and adhered it to my card.

I cut out two hearts with the nestabilities heart dies, and used the negative heart and the positive heart. I stamped my sentiment "I Love You" from Verve Visual onto the heart and popped both of them up.

That was it!! I can't get the colour to come out properly with this silly photo, but the pinks are a gorgeous salmon-y pink. I think it is very pretty - if I do say so myself!! LOL!

17 Feb 2008

Daytona 500

WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!!

Ryan Newman Alltel Dodge!!!!!!

Happy Anniversary to anyone!!

I made a quick anniversary card this morning with Papertrey Ink's Beautiful Blooms set.....

I seem to be using this set a bit more lately. I was a little nervous of it because I didn't really know what to do with it. Of course, I had bought it anyway with great dreams and hopes LOL!!

I guess I must be getting the hang of it, because I think this card turned out pretty nice!

I just stamped the scribble flowers three times and cut and embossed them with my nestabilities.
Then I popped them out on the paper from SEI Jolie Chocolate. I added some white Offray ribbon and a tag from Mixed Messages, another Papertrey Ink stamp set and it was done.

It actully went very fast for me......I was surprised!!

Featured Stamper......

Today's Featured Stamper is Betty gbedwright and I have chosen this card to case from her Gallery.

Of course, when I went to upload my card to my blog, I noticed that her ovals at the bottom of her card were a lot bigger than mine.....but how are you supposed to remember everything about somebody else's card and then run downstairs and make a card and then run back upstairs to check it out and then run back downstairs again to tie the ribbon and on and on and on..............

But anyway, I used My Mind's Eye designer paper. I luv all the polka dots!!

The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's "Out on a Limb" and it is the saying that is so beautiful.....

"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."

The ribbon is from Wal-Mart and is Offray ribbon. I love it because it is so satin-y and luscious!!

I started out I was going to do an Easter theme which is whyI have the yellow and blue ribbon. I also had lilac and pink, but the ending result did not convey Easter at all!! Isn't that always the way!!

Of course, we are not allowed to upload to SCS today, being Sunday, so I will just have to spend my time making another card!

LUCKY ME!!

16 Feb 2008

Like I didn't know that.....!!

At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.

Happy Easter!!

Oh yeh.......Easter is coming!!

I have always really like this image, but I could never figure out how to use it! I say that alot, I know!!

It seems you have to figure out the right layout for your stamps....then the possibilities are endless!!

The image stamp is from American Artstamp and is called "Easter Bonnet". I got her at the Paper Pickle for free before Christmas since I spent sooooo much!! man......

I coloured her with my copics and lightly sponged around the edges of the scallops with lime green ink.

The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's stamp set "Limitless Labels"

I added two little blings from Verve Visual and set her up on the designer paper.

The dotted background paper is Dream Street Papers, the striped DP is Basic Grey Gypsy and the ribbon is Offray.

Thanks for looking!

Just Buzzin' Around......

I received this image in an image swap from one of my blogging sisters SBS(2).

I have a lot of them that I need to use up....but they are so fun to have when you need a quick card!!

I believe it is a Stamping Up image but not sure......sorry!

I used DCWV Black and White paper stack for my designer paper, black cardstock and yellow cardstock.

I used my corner rounder to make the scallops in the yellow paper - I love doing that!!

My petite ovals nestabilities were used for the image and the background to the image.

Ribbon is Offray and brads are MM!

Thanks for stopping by!

THIS is the sketch challenge!

The LAST post was titled Sketch Challenge, I know, and then I got off track.....imagine THAT!!

THIS is Sharon Johnson's sketch challenge!! She has a fantastic blog No Time to Stamp? and has quick and easy card ideas that I "borrow" from time to time when I need a quick, easy and bee-yoo-ti-ful!! card!

She has a sketch challenge every week, so I thought this week I would try it out, since they are quite fast, for some......not so much me....but still wonderful to try!!

I think that every card takes a bit of time the first time you do it, but if you are mass producing, it goes so much easier as you go, until you get bored of course!!

For this card I used my new SEI paper "Chocolate Jolie", absolutely beautiful paper with some foil sheets, sparkly butterflies and gorgeous chocolates! I bought it at Scrappin' Great Deals.

I stamped the flower from Papertrey Ink's Beautiful Blooms stamp set and then used my Cuttlebug flower die to cut out the little flower and then stamped another bloom on it from the same stamp set. I popped it up with a dimensional onto the first flower and added a little bling to the center!!

The little "thing" on the flower is actually a butterfly that I stamped, cut out and then popped it up on top. When I look at it here, it kind of looks like a zit.....but it really is a butterfly!!

Check out Sharon's sketch challenge for a quick, easy and fun card!!

15 Feb 2008

A sketch challenge

Boy, it doesn't take much to lose your groove.....BAM!!!(as Emeril would say) and it was gone! Well, hopefully BAM!! and it will be back!

It is just so weird to just stand there and look at ALL the pretty paper and stamps (and I DO have a lot-it's a sickness, I know)and not have a clue what to do with it......it's nuts.....

Anyway, I had ordered 100 (yep) coasters from Scrappin' Great Deals and they showed up today - man she IS fast because I put my order in on Tuesday night and it was in my mailbox today!
So I got the coasters and decided I better do something with these. I remembered that I had seen some coaster post-it note holders over on Chris' blog, so I headed over there and found the tutorial and started putting a couple together.

They go soooo fast and they are so cute and easy! A great way to use up your scrap paper!!

Just add paper to your coaster, sand it down and adhere the post-it note pads!! Add your clips and ribbon and VOILA!!

Okay, on to the next!!

LUCKY ME!!

A Case of Casing....

I seem to be having a writer's block, if you will, if you couldn't tell from the last couple of cards.......

Very sweet comments, thank you, but I just haven't been feeling it....soooo, my answer to that is to case some cards until it comes back with such a VENGEANCE!!!! haha!

Here are a couple of cards that I cased from Nichole Heady's gallery, done by Nichole herself. You can see her card here.

This first card I sponged with Brilliance Green ink and used Papertrey Ink's Papertray stamp set. The little flower is GREEN, the same colour as the ink, but naturally, that won't show up properly on the screen!! I just attached it with a turquoise brad.

The second card is basically the same except I used the Happy Birthday from Limitless Labels stamp set.

On both cards I used my Crop-a-dile to emboss some dots, but I do believe that I pressed too hard.......or maybe there is only one setting for pressing.....I am still trying to get used to that crazy thing!

It really looks like something hubby should have down in his shop!! LOL!

And of course, now they have the Big Bite, which Scrappin' Great Deals offers, and it goes in even farther to your card.....so many options!!!

Were you out to the Papertrey Ink release last night?! WOW!! The site crashed right at the beginning so we all hopped over to Splitcoast Stampers and had a little "party" on their site!!

The new stamp sets are fabulous, a long with paper and ribbon and ink oh my!! I maybe able to show you some in a couple of weeks. My budget is absolutely (word of the year) busted!!

LUCKY ME!!

Happy Valentine's Day!!

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone out there!!

My hubby MADE me a card over at Marcie's house!! How sweet! I though it was rather good myself !

I told him that now we could work together in my scrap room and HOW much fun would that be?!

He really didn't have an answer to that one, which I had pretty much figured! HAHA!!

Now for the gift! Believe me, I KNOW how fortunate I am to have a man who will go out and buy me a Valentine gift.

I am glad, however, that he kept the receipt. It is sooo pretty but we are going to go and exchange the size 3X nightie that he bought me.

I lost 30 lbs last year and now I fit into a size medium.

When I hold the nightie up to me, my husband, my 3 kids, my two dogs and myself could fit into it .*sigh*

This card is a sympathy card obviously (nothing to do with the above "faux pas" in the gift department).
Just look at that beautiful paper by Heidi Grace!

It is embossed and flocked in that gorgeous turquoise blue colour.....fabulous!!

The sentiment is from Mixed Messages from Papertrey Ink and the lucious chocolate satin ribbon is from Jacksonbelle Embellishments.

Anyway I have been saving all my money for Papertrey Ink's new line of paper, ribbon and ink!! That is right!! Tonight is the big debut of their new "stuff"!!

They have now come out with patterned paper, cardstock which is as fabulous and their white cardstock, ribbon, and ink......all in matching colours!! I think that every month they are going to release a new colour line! This month it is "aqua mist" and "spring moss".

Well, hubby is also taking me out for a Valentine's supper when we exchange the (too big) nighties!!

LUCKY ME!!

Paper Pretties Sweetiebellas!

I received my Paper Pretties card-in-a-box this week so I did up a card from the kit.

It is soooo simple to do, especially when everything is precut, pre counted and they give you the directions to boot!

I subscribed to the Stamping Bella petite box, so I get enough supplies to make six cards, plus embellishments, plus dimensionals, plus ribbon (if the card calls for ribbon - this month it doesn't) PLUS the stamp! Look at the pretty glittery flower - well you can't really tell it is glittery - but IT IS glittery!!!This month's stamp was the Sweetiebellas!!

They are sooooo darn cute! Just stamp her up on the little cut out piece of paper provided and start gluing!! The only thing not provided is the sentiment.....but that just broadens your choice of how to show off the card!!

I chose to use My Favorite Things Essential Sentiments stamp set for my sentiment "Best Friends"

Very easy.....just follow the directions and VOILA!!

I LOVE IT!!

Sketch Challenge 163

OH my goodness!!! This is the 3rd time tonight that I have tried to load this stupid blogger!! It better work or I GIVE UP!!!

I have had this Inkadinkado stamp for awhile and have been anxious ( yes, anxious) to ink it up!

You know how when you buy a stamp and then you are not sure just how to use your new stamp, but you know you want to use it, but it has to be just the right thing??!!

Well, I am using it now, for the sketch challenge on Splitcoast Stampers....

I used Basic Grey Blush patterned paper as my background and mounted it on some teal Bazill that I had.

I stamped my Inkadinkado cat stamp and Papertrey Ink's "Out on a Limb" verse in Versamagic turquoise gem and mounted it on the Basic Grey Two Scoops peachy background.

The verse reads "to the moon and back again, to infinity and beyond, forever & ever"! How perfect is that! I stamped the "I love you" at the bottom because I wanted it to be separate and very see-able.....yeh.

I mounted it onto the patterned paper and added some faux stitching around the outside of the peach paper with my turquoise Sakura glitter pen. Then I thought it needed a bit more, so I added more faux stitching around the images on the white paper also.

I tied the teal gauze ribbon around the card and added the heart charm. Then I found a small moon-shaped embellishment in my stash that fit perfectly on the main image and I adhered that.

I used my Sakura glitter pen to go over the stars and then used my turquoise glitter pen to trace around the kitties and the heart, just to show them off a bit more! To finish it off I added Stamping Bella pearl baubles in each corner. That is what I was wondering about before - peach or white? I had peach brads but I didn't want to take away from the image so I just added the white baubles. Pretty!!

Perch for supper! IT was delishhhhh!

LUCKY ME!!

I'm Stamping, I Am....

I am in my stamp room working away, I just came up for air!

Marcie called and said that I had won a challenge of Kraftin' Kimmie's Korner!! so I went over and checked - not that I didn't believe her but I had to see if for myself!! LOL!

And yessireeeee I did........right there in print!......naturally, it was the one I was sort of embarrassed about - isn't that the way. But someone told me we are our own worst critics. Well, my goodness, I hope there is no one worse than me to pick apart......I mean - criticize my work!! Yikes!!

I will have a couple of cards shortly......I just have to figure out whether to use peach or white!!

Hubby caught some fish this morning when he was ice fishing (silly boy....so cold) so I don't have to make supper!!

LUCKY ME!!

Gina K called me!!

ETA: okay, after I published this I re-read it and it didn't make a lot of sense! I'm still too excited........
To clarify - I called Gina K Designs, left a message, and Gina called me back.....that makes more sense! I am calming down now...

Okay, so it wasn't about being a guest designer or anything.......

But how nice is that! I called the number to see if I could register for her Copic ciao club and Gina K herself called me!

And, naturally, of course, I was a blithering idiot.....actually, I don't think I said much of anything.

Just "me speaking" "yes, I did" "Oh! thank you!" "Nice talking to you""bye".......I'm a fool.

I came across cute, VERY new blog yesterday! it's called Card Makin' Chaos and it is run by the sweetest and cutest young woman!!!

She has fabulous cards and did I say she was cute? Actually, she is quite beautiful and I am told she looks ALOT like her mother!!

You guessed it, she is my daughter Marcie!! Go and check out her blog!!

LUCKY ME!!

Who ME???!!

I got the most awesomest award yesterday from Kraftin' Kimmie!!

It is a "You Cheer Me Up" Award!! How cool is that?!!

Hubby says "oh yeh?"

He says that is kind of unbelievable...and then he giggled....yes, my hubby giggles.......what a goof!

So now I will nominate someone who ALWAYS makes me smile with her blog and that is Betsy at "Bouncy, Flouncy, Fun, Fun, Fun!!!" Even her blog name makes me smile!!

Off to math class today....

LUCKY ME!!

Gina K Designs Challenges

I entered a couple of the challenges today for last night's release of Gina K Designs new stamp sets!

The first one is Sketch Challenge #1 and I used an image that I received from Flossie, one of my blogging sisters at SBS(2) !! so I don't even know what the stamp is!

The sentiment stamp is Hero Arts and I have been dying to use these sentiments, but never seemed to have the opportunity! Offray ribbon was tied around the Paper Salon paper and a heart charm added for DRAMA!! LOL!

On the second card I was able to use more of my re-inked alcohol ink paper for the patterned paper! There was so much left over from this challenge, so why not!?!

The image is another one from Flossie, By the Sea - a Stamping Up stamp and the ribbon is a beautiful tan and black stripe from May Arts.

The sentiment is another stamp from Hero Arts! Add a couple of MM brads and done!!

You should go over and check out these challenges! They are fun and you have until tomorrow morning to finish them off!!

Oh my goodness it is sooooo cold here! I think I have said that at every post I have made this week!! Well, at least we are on the right side of winter!!

Wash the dishes,
Dry the dishes,
Turn the dishes,
OVER!!

LUCKY ME!!

A New Technique

Unbelievably I joined in the Technique Lovers Challenge today on Splitcoast Stampers!!

Now, I am NOT one to try new things but I think I should try to go out of the box (cripe-I altered something didn't I?!!)

It was sooo easy, messy and FUN!!

The idea was to use glossy paper and reinkers, and you pronounce that re-inkers. I am telling you this because, stupidly, I was involved in a challenge a few months ago used reinkers, and I was so frustrated because I didn't have a clue as to what "rain-kers" were, that I didn't do that challenge!

That's okay, I used to call the Cricut (cricket), the "cry-cut" and I just discovered that the Copic Ciao (chow) markers are not called See-A-Oh!!

And, honestly, I won spelling bees in school!! Why can't things be spelled the way they sound!!?

Anywho.....I used Tim Holtz alcohol inks, rust and stonewashed, and glossy photo paper for the challenge. You just sprinkle two different coloured inks on the a piece of paper and squish it with another piece. Take it apart and you have two backgrounds!!

I really think it turned out quite pretty!! I had the image from Stamping Up's from an image swap with my Blogging Sisters and I had coloured it in earlier, so this matched perfectly!!

I stamped the sentiment from Papertrey Ink's "Out on a Limb" stamp set and tore it off. Then I just clipped it on with a swirl clip that I had in stock!

I added some offray ribbon, Fancy Pants Stick pin and a flower cut out of my Spellbinders flower die to finish it off!

It is -17 degrees here today.......freakin' cold!!!!

So, I think, the best thing for me to do is retreat to my stamp room and stamp!! Or do laundry, vaccuum, do the dishes, make the beds and ALL THAT JAZZ!

LUCKY ME!!

Furry Friend!

Maybe not real fur! But fake fur for sure!

I was over at Marcie's this afternoon for a stamping party and managed to get a couple of cards done!
She had so many girls over there giggling and stamping and grabbing for glue and scissors and paper and ink, it's a wonder I got anything done at all!! LOL!!

I had to come home and re-do the snowbunny bella card because I couldn't concentrate on it!

I'm not really sure about it, but as I say, it is what it is!!

This card is for Kraftin' Kimmies Celebration Challenge #5 - paper piecing.

I stamped Snowbunnybella once on white cardstock and again on some dotted paper Marcie had in her scrap drawer. I cut out the coat and adhered it to the first stamped image. Then I coloured her face and legs with the copic markers. Her boots and behind her head is done with turquoise glaze pen!

Then I outlined her in a very light blue marker. I think it makes her pop out more.

I Cuttlebugged the bottom half of the back ground paper which is cardstock and Daisy D's Maybe Baby paper with the embossing folder.

I used my corner rounder to make a scalloped edge and punched some holes in it too.

I tied some ribbon and a flower around the top and popped up my image. I stamped the My Favorite Things, Essential Sentiments "Kids with Fur" sentiment and popped it up too!

I added puff paint to the furry parts of her outfit, heated it up and out it popped!! Magic!!

This next card is also for Kraftin' Kimmies Celebration Challenge only for #6. We are supposed to make a thank you card and do something nice for someone today!

No, I didn't bake a pie but I did take my stamping stuff over to Marcie's and let her friends use it. I did cringe the whole time but the point is I did it!!
I don't know why I take offense at someone touching my stamping things...it is some kind of phobia ---- maybe "agityourcottonpickinhandsoffmystuffaphobia" I have heard of that.

This paper is Basic Grey Gypsy, another beautiful pack of paper!! The stamp is from Clearly Wordsworth and this set has so many cute little people! There is a golfer, a nurse, a cowgirl and a mother....and then all the saying with it.....very cool!

I stamped this image on a tag, my inspiration was from Michelle Wooderson's card here.

I coloured her with my copics and added two little blings from Verve Visual. The sentiment is from My Favorite Things, Essential Sentiments set.

That's about it for today!! I think I have had a couple or more posts so I better pack it in and spend some quality time with Rosie so she will stop chewing up things.......oh yeh, .......hubby too...LOL!!!

LUCKY ME!!

Another Quick Card!!

Well I was able to throw together another quick and easy card this morning!

It is a wedding card and again it is cased from Sharon Johnson from her blog, No Time To Stamp! Honestly that woman amazes me!! Even I can do these cards in minutes! LOL!!!

This card is so self-explanatory I am not even going to describe it!

Although I should say that the script stamp is from Hero Arts and the wedding Cuttlebug embossing folder is called Wedding Cuttlebug embossing set (duh) and I bought it at Scrapping Great Deals, a fantastic on-line store with EVERYTHING!!

I am going over to Marcie's this afternoon to stamp!! YAY!!

LUCKY ME!!!!!

An Altered Tin - I broke down and did it!

ETA: I was in such a hurry to get showered up to go stamping at Marcie's I totally forgot to tell you where I got the tutorial for this altered pop-top tin!!! Sooooo sorry!!! Click this link and it will take you there!! and yep! I ate all the peaches....YUMMY!!

Yes, I finally altered a tin! I don't know why I was kicking up such a fuss!! It wasn't that bad....I only did a little itty bitty one.....the pop-top one.

I did this tin for Kraftin' Kimmie's Celebration Challenge. This is actually the first of six challenges. I went into this one kicking and screaming like a little baby!! LOL!

I just surrounded the tin with Webster's designer paper and then wrapped some offray ribbon around the top.

I stamped Papertrey Ink's Beautiful Blooms on white cardstock in Versamagic chalk ink - tea rose, sage and pine cone and cut out the flowers and LAYERED them up! LOTS of layers!!

I popped up the layers around the tin and then on the lid I just used a Prima flower layered with other primas and added a heart brad in the center! Pretty easy!

Although when I was done I forgot about the pull top.....so I guess they will have to remove the flower to get into it. There are M&M breast cancer chocolate covered nuts in it! YUMMY!!

I wasn't even able to nibble, because I gave up candy for Lent! I wondered if candy was just wrapped candy, or jelly beans, or if I should get that technical ---but I guess candy is candy and that really includes chocolate!!

It is not so bad really. During the MFT release on Wednesday night. one girl was giving up stamping!!! What a strong woman she is!!

Well, thank goodness I finished this challenge! I feel better about it too!

NOT SO BAD LUCKY!!

No, Really-What do you think??

You Are Most Like Tyra Banks

Totally smokin' with tons of attitude

Another Verve Card!

I just can't seem to get enough of this Verve Visual "Heart to Heart" stamp set! Obviously I like it very much! Perfect for Valentine Cards.....

I made this for Kraftin' Kimmie's Celebration Challenge #4 - to make a lovey dovey card!

The designer paper is by Fancy Pants Sweet Pea collection - beautiful paper that I got at Scrapbook Studio in London. They have a fabulous store with sooooo much selection - if you get my drift!! *groan....

The cardstock is Papertrey Ink white cardstock - so heavy and just perfect for card bases.

The dark pink paper is Worldwin cardstock which I purchased at The Paper Pickle. They too have a great selection of stamps, paper --younameittheyvegotit!! sort of store! *double groan.....

I added brads by Making Memories and Offray white ribbon.

I stamped, cut out and popped up the heart because I mucked up the original heart! Isn't that great - there is usually a way to save a card through different techniques!!

LUCKY ME!

Divine Design 2008

I discovered a post on Splitcoast Stampers called the Divine Design 2008 - Bible Verse Challenge.

On the 8th of every month you choose a verse and get stamping! Then we post our creation on the project page at Splitcoast Stampers.

I thought what a fantastic idea, not only to be inspired but to discover more of the Bible. I started to read the Bible about 3 years ago when our minister had a bible study group. Since then he has left our church and I just lost interest - however it WAS interesting since we started with the New Testament - which is quite good reading!!

Yes, I would have thought blah!! at one time, but you know, the older you get, the more you start thinking AHAH! instead of blah!

The image is computer generated and is from Isaiah 7 verse 9.
It was the first verse that jumped out at me when I opened the Bible this morning for this challenge! How cool!

I haven't always had a strong Faith.....during my transplant and after, I had very little Faith....but my mom sure did (thank goodness) and here I am to tell the tale!! So that 's my story and I'm stickin' to it! LOL!!

The paper is Basic Grey Periphery with some eyelets, ribbon and embellishment (courage) from OLD stock that I have had from WAY back when I did more scrapbooking than I do today!!

You can hardly see it but I stamped an image very lightly on the main image and that stamp was from Rubber Stampede.

I think it turned out rather nicely!!
LUCKY ME!!

Sketch Me Dotty!!

I haven't done a challenge on Splitcoast Stampers for awhile, so I thought it was time to get a couple done in one card!!

This card is double duty - the Sketch Challenge and the Ways To Use It Challenge.

The stamp set I used is from My Favorite Things - Punny Farm. I chose the chickens today. I can't believe that this is the first time I have inked up those chickens!! I mean, I work in a hen house for goodness sakes! you think that would be the first thing I would reach for!!

The Ways to Use challenge today was to use dots!! Dots in your embellishments, make a dotted background, stamps that are dots!! anything that has to do with dots.

I love this challenge because I love dots.....so I chose some polka dotted Offray ribbon and a polka dotted photo corner! Cute, don't you think??!

Marcie had left some patterned paper here, so I grabbed that and worked it into my card, so I am not sure what the make is....sorry about that....

I did some faux stitching around the edges of all the layers with my black ziggy pen.....it does such a nice precise job. I coloured the hens with my copics and then sponged a bit of blue and brown for sky and the ground!

My poor Schnauzer Rosie has been soooooo sick! When she peed on my carpet, she was NOT sick.....that was on purpose!

But last night she ate half a belt. Yep. My son went to put on his leather belt this morning and the buckle was chewed right off and there was only about 12" of belt left. Oh man, was she sick, literally! Lots and all day! Little pieces of leather throw-up all over the place. ugh. sorry.....

But poor thing...... tell me - when do they grow out of the "I see it, I chew it, I eat it stage"!!? She won't be two years old until August.

We live on a farm and we have had dogs all my married life (28 years)and NEVER have they ever gotten into so much MISCHIEF!!
That crazy Rosie.......she does seem to be feeling a bit better tonight.....hopefully leather is not toooo poisonous!

Well, off to bed for me. I'm Zonked!!

LUCKY ME!!
